Sarah @thedotterypotter that sounds odd, if the tooth is dead -I don’t think it should be able to hurt… ? Maybe there is an infection under it - which should be fairly easy to treat, but could be quite dangerous if left. Glad your fair redeemed itself .

Sarah, @thedotterypotter sorry your fair wasn’t good, and like Deborah says, if painkillers aren’t helping it’s possibly an infection and needs sorting as soon as possible. I am really surprised your dentist says there’s nothing that can be done on the nhs. Time to find a new one I think. They can crown teeth or bridge them, that is if indeed it is actually dead. Remember, the numbness lasts such a short time compared to the relief it will give. Good luck.

@thedotterypotter I’d get a second opinion on the tooth. It might not need surgery but if it does I know someone who had significant dental surgery on a combo of ketamine and local anaesthetic, he was as high as a kite (and remembers very little) thanks to the ketamine but it meant they use much less anaestethic and he recovered much quicker something like that might be suitable for you. (my phobia is the needles and a touch of claustrophobia as it feels like everyone is trying to climb into my mouth.)
