Folksy search

Yes, me too! :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

The welsh love spoon has been unavailable for some time. So why hasnt it been replaced with another sellers item??
This seems to be a common occurance in searches I’ve made. The first item or two are unavailable or Ive “just missed it” even though the shop was empty. Im then offered alternatives but all from one shop, not a variety of shops

I am doing a massive purge if my stock atm, the local charity shop are looking forward to my deliveries. Once down to a reasonable level, doubt will be making much more but building my own website instead. Continuing with the plus atm as have too much to justify individual listings.

Love Folksy but not sure they love us.

Well there isn’t much more I can add is there except.
.as a top seller in the BS list more weeks than not over the past year I am also considering other options.
To date this month 2 sales £150, might sound a lot I know to some sellers but I no longer do this for fun, to begin with yes it was a little bit of extra income and a way to keep my mind and hands occupied but over the past few years I have worked on average 10 to 12 hours everyday to make sure I continue to climb with this business and I appreciate sales are driven by ourselves and our own marketing/ promoting but when your mind goes from enthusiastic to can’t be arsed sales suffer and my current mood stems back to this so it has had a direct hit on my business this month.
April arrived and bang…Blind…
So I swapped my enthusiasm for making and growing my business into searching Folksy and wasting hours on chats and slowly bit by bit the enthusiasm I thrived on disappeared.
Result…left feeling there is no point, we are not being taken seriously, for the record we are not all on here to pass the time of day away, we work bloody hard to be the best we can be and I for one am sick of wasting my time promoting a business that is not working. It is time Folksy held their hands up and apologised and admitted they balls this up.
Admitting they had done nothing over the past two weeks to put it right is a kick in the stomach for the sellers that are keeping Folksy going, without your sellers you don’t exist. I think we deserve an honest reply on all of this.

And pour another brandy !
Apologies to Kim again, you are the messenger that gets all the flack and that’s not fair either and this is no reflection on you.

Well said Debby. Like yourself i was also a top 50 best seller for 2024 accordingly to James. I have also been regularly listed in the top 40 best sellers list in the past 18 months. But, I want more sales for the amount of hours and money I have invested. I see another British craft website has a buyer’s feedback page alongside a few sellers comments. Perhaps with is what Folksy are going to try and do, hence the wait for buyer’s feedback! I was with this site and the vendors other craft website for a year. Dissbite good promotional advertising on social media by the vendor and myself I didn’t make one single sale. I was extremely disappointed because I liked the site and the quality of goods available for people to purchase. Unlike Folksy which I am afraid to say doesn’t look at potential sellers quality before allowing them to sell. This gives a bad impression for some buyer’s and can put them off purchasing even though they can see quality sellers making beautiful items. We have also suffered a lot from scamers getting into the site to sell. It’s appears to be the sellers who have been policing the site and informing admin.

I am going to close on this subject now as I have spent a lot of time getting involved on the subject. Like you my enthusiasm has dwindled to nothing. I have 35 items to photograph and list but just can’t be bothered! I am giving Folksy a few weeks to sort the mess out before I make my final decision as to stay or leave and set up my own website.

If you leave please make sure i have your details so can purchase a bear which speaks to me for Harvey’s ashes when he leaves me. He now 16 and five months and still going strong!

Thats actually a good idea Gail because almost 2 weeks ago i said I wasn’t coming on anymore but I have constantly and have invested so much time into the forum, searches etc I havn’t actually made anything.

I’ve said way too much on here as I’m so unhappy and frustrated with the situation and we are all understandably very upset because we don’t have a clue what’s going on and it’s out of our control but all we are actually doing is winding ourselves up more and more.
I feel really sad that I’ve always loved Folksy and now I’m sat here moaning, it’s such a shame, i really hope things get sorted and we can all pick up and carry on with what we do best, making beautiful items to sell.
I go away on Wednesday and have a million things I should have sorted by now so I’m also going to leave and put my energy into the things I need to do and await a response from Folksy this week.
l will also wait until after my break before I start looking at options and hopefully by then this will be behind us.
I did my accounts for last year and they were actually down on the previous year, I was both surprised and gutted, my hours are so long so to make every year an improvement on the last I will need to work even harder (will have to move my bedtime from 2am to 3am at the rate ) so I need a site that works for me, fingers crossed everything comes right for all sellers.

Ha ha we are so alike my love… I knit bears and dolls accessories and clothes during the evenings when I have had enough of sewing…just think how much more I will get done with that extra hour every night  xx

I really think that print on demand items shouldn’t be on Folksy. I know people will disagree but there are pages and pages of exactly the same thing with a different picture or writing. It isn’t really handmade is it? Or is that just me? Not really fair when your bags are handmade from scratch and these are just printed. I don’t know the answer is really but there are too many of them now. xx

I agree with you. If the bag/ mug isnt hand made, (the material sewn or the pottery thrown by the seller) and the words/pattern are printed on by a print company, it is hard to see the handmade element of the item.

I know, I agree, it’s very disheartening. To make it even worse the 1st 3 or 4 rows of bags, about 14 bags in total, aren’t even available to buy. If you go to the persons shop it appears to be empty so how did they come up in search, and right at the top!

Indeed and how on earth can Folksy advertise the site as somewhere you can find something handmade and totally unique .. when there are 100 for sale at a time.

Ive just done a search for tote bags. The worst search so far, and some very distasteful results. Made me wonder where I was ? The home of Uk handmade handcrafted? It certainly didnt feel like it.

I agree. It has become much more of an issue because of the clumping issue on the new search - previously you would have only seen the odd print on demand item amongst a beautiful sea of handmade, but due to the clumping, they now predominate lots of searches.

Clumping not professional
No uniform to images dreadful
Prices lowers the look of Folksy
Shops that are empty looks as if going into a store that is closing down and empty shelves. Nothing to buy, go elsewhere.

Please Folksy out it back as it was until you have the time to test and explore as most big business do. Not go live when faulty.

The clumping’s terrible in that tote bag search. The second half of the search results is like looking at the shop front of a single seller.

Clumping has always been a bit of an issue in my opinion, but it seems worse now.
I’ve sent feedback about this, and pretty much every issue that’s previously been covered in this thread. There’s nothing that’s better about this new search!
To top it off, my shop doesn’t even appear in the search, no matter what I enter. I thought it was because it is currently empty, but I see that other empty shops are appearing.
Complete lack of sales over the years that I’ve been on here, and now this farce is making me rethink the plan to restock, and to leave Folksy once and for all.

I haven’t had my shop on here long but joined just before the changes with the search etc
I am feeling totally fed up with how things are on here, I really dislike the red price labels and how they cover part of the product photo which we all spend precious time on.
I also don’t like the way when a product is unavailable that it tries to direct you away to gift guides rather than to other things the maker has for sale.
I also thought I was joining a site that championed handmade items but there are certain items on here that certainly do not meet that criteria.
My other half looked the other day after I spoke to him about it and his first comment was ‘it looks like Ali express’ .
I really wanted to give folksy a good chance as everyone has been so helpful and welcoming to me but all the changes and not for the better is making me feel already it could be time to move on, I need to know the time and effort I put in is taken seriously.
A very confused crafter today as to what to do!
