With the folksy 4 search do I just search folksy for some of my favorite work based on a theme. Then ask permission from the artist to share their work on a folksy 4 post on Instagram?
Sorry I am probably not the person to answer, as I don’t do Instagram and wouldn’t know how to put together a Folksy Friday board! Is that what you mean by Folksy4? If so, I am not aware that you have to ask permission to include someone’s item, generally I would have thought everyone is happy to have some free advertising! Certainly when someone has included one of my items in the past ( for which I am very grateful) I have not been approached for permission first.
Hope this helps. Maybe a regular Instagrammer or Folksy Friday maker will pop in with better info for you.
Thankyou so much that’s really helpful. I’m not very tech savvy it’s all a learning curve. This is a great creative community ![]()

Hi there, no expert myself but I’ll try and help ![]()
I’ve never asked for permission from the artist to post images of their work, as Liz @samazama has said, it’s free advertising and promotion which at the end of the day, is what it’s all about. There are various templates on Folksy for the Friday Board - I used one but adapted it for a four pic layout purely because of time constraints but you can set it up however you want.
The Theme is entirely up to you - choose whatever you fancy. I usually wake up on a Friday and something pops in to my head and I go with that. There are also Themes of the Day in one of the Forums if you wanted to run with one of those, if it’s an International ‘something’ Day, Festival, etc But it’s entirely your choice. Once I have my theme, I then search on Folksy and find my victims, sorry makers! I use Notepad to keep a record of the url link to the piece I am going to include, their business name and Instagram profile if they have one. I use Canva to create my board and then create the post on Instagram, tagging the artists and including direct links to their item in the caption.
But, seriously, if you need any help, just message/reach out to me, I’m more than happy to try and help if I can. Good luck ![]()
