Gold plating- where do you get yours done fellow jewellers?

I’m desperate to find an outworker to do some gold plating. I have a number of ranges we’d love to offer gold plated accents on (since casting them in gold is too expensive) but I can’t find anyone willing to do batch work for us x

Sorry never had any gold plating done but have you considered painting on the accents with something like PMC gold paste?

I love this idea Sasha! I hadn’t even considered using a product like that. I’m going to have to look into it, thank you xxx

I’ve previous bought the metal clays from http://www.metalclay.co.uk/ and they have a useful instruction guide for the gold paste http://www.metalclay.co.uk/content/Petra’s%20AGS%20Instructions.pdf as a place to start your research.

You are a gem, thanks! I contacted cooksons about it and all they could say was “it can be used on sterling silver or fine silver pmc” when I asked if it could be used/ how to use it on jewellery that had been cast rather than pmc. Very helpful! Lol x

The folks at metalclay have been very helpful when I’ve contacted them about other things so I think you’d get a more useful answer out of them if the guide doesn’t answer your questions. When I’ve put silver paste on copper I’ve needed to key the surface first to get it to adhere depending on how polished your items are when they come back from being cast you may or may not have to do that.
