Happy new year but those tags. . Really?

The new year tag is party.

I reported multiple items for being totally unrelated to party which made the entire feature totally laughable. I was told i should hit the report button. I did hit the report button and i hit it again and again but nothing happened.

So to whoever thought my original very brief and tongue in cheek topic comment was offensive and reported it I can only say thank you very much you nearly ruined my day .Hope you have a good one ! Happy New Year to everyone else.

Do away with the theme of the day unless policed and only 1 item per seller. Looks pathetic on the front page and makes those that are joining in properly a joke. All because people are selfish and want to promote regardless. Wish those sellers would grow up and abandon the ‘me, me’ culture. Would never have happened or been allowed back in my day.

One of the reasons I never do the theme of the day now, not done for a year because of the level of stupidity.

I don’t think it part8cularly helps that the themes are often very vague and shops can opt themselves in just by changing a tag or two. Relevance has always been a huge issue, and always will be, whether by accident or design by the individual shops.

It’s not fair on those who follow the rules, but opportunists will always take a shot.

I look on it as a guide to “who not to buy from” based on my personal ethics and standards. If folk don’t play fair, they go on my buying naughty step lol

Just thought it made a pathetic front page theme.
Remembered I have bunting so tagged it. Anyone else with something more appropriate get tagging and let’s hide those things which are tagged as party against all tagging rules :grinning_face::grinning_face::grinning_face::grinning_face: as I am reliably informed that naughty tags are not removed for first offenders – however stupid it makes the front page look. Andboy oh boy did it !..

It doesn’t look good does it when inappropriate things are tagged.

I’ve decided theme of the day isn’t worth the effort of going through my listings to add the tags. I give up scrolling through pages of similar items from the same few shops, barely relevant to the theme, trying to find my item and as a buyer it would definitely put me off. Limiting it to only 1-2 items per seller would showcase the wide variety of items available on Folksy much better.

Its probably had its day. I’d actually prefer the gift guides to take that space on the front page, as at least those are curated and follow a set theme. The free for all just leads to free for all chaos and that benefits not a soul.

More soul destroying.

Oh my goodness, I’ve just looked - and - yes - it’s really random!

Not a good look @folksycontent when you scroll through pages and pages of random items, in large blocks of one shop’s items at a time, when less than half could legitimately be tagged as ‘‘party’’

Isn’t it a shame though, Folksy have this in place so we all get a chance of showcasing our work as not everyone’s items are chosen by Folksy for the favourites or gift guides.

We understand it can be frustrating when people misuse Theme of the Day, but please remember our community policy when posting about issues such as this - Terms of Service

Do not publicly call out other sellers

If you believe someone has broken our terms of use or done something you do not agree with, do not publicly name them or give details that allow them to be easily identified.

If you notice someone has mis tagged items for Theme of the Day, please use the ‘report item to Folksy’ link at the bottom of the listing page to report and explain the issue, so the Folksy team can deal with this, rather than posting about it publicly. If you feel the need to discuss the issue with other sellers here, do not give any specific details that will easily identify the shops involved.

We have hidden any comments with identifying details, but if these types of comments continue, the thread will be closed.

I’m actually shocked that this was reported, I read Joy’s original post as humorous, I replied with a jovial comment, nothing malicious, abusive or offensive towards anyone and very definitely did not call out anyone, as you can see by further comments there was a lot more said regarding the issue that wasn’t flagged as inappropriate. I was very shocked to receive the email from Folksy which was very harsh and totally unwarranted so if people are going to report then please make sure it is warranted because this is a public forum. I certainly do not need links to read how to conduct myself or the terms of service. I felt it necessary to come back to this post (once it was reinstated) to mention it because I now no longer want to be part of the forum which is a shame because there are some lovely helpful sellers on here.

Please don’t leave Debby. I have felt like this before when ‘told off’. If it was not for sellers who have become friends and my lovely customers would have left years ago.

No one has a right to make you feel like that. Your bears are so precious.

I have raised concerns about TOTD previously, and how sellers abuse it. Either by adding irrelevant items or just stuffing it full of their items. But folksy did nothing to control this. And I find it a sad reflection of our times, when those that take the mick can report somebody for pointing out that they are taking the mick, and the person who is taking the mick comes off better … shame on you Folksy. If you care about your sellers, then come down hard on those that have ruined the TOTD, or close the loopholes that allow them to.

If I understand correctly that today’s theme of the day tag Hygge means warm and comforting, then I would say that there are items included that are no more warm and comforting than one of my personalised leather bracelets!

@folksycontent can you clarify if you intend to get on top of this, or is it just going to continue as a free for all?

I agree it either needs to be policed everyday and those that do abuse the totd are blocked from joining in, or stop it all together or maybe only allow 1 listing there shop, per theme. Then if irrelevant list gets through not as bad as having 7 yesterday over barely two pages.
If staff supply us the issue, stop it.

I have tried to list items that use the theme of the day. I have even made a piece for a special theme. A complete waste of time . Like all Folksy lists you get pages with the same 2 or 3 shops. I know jewellery is huge but how does the same shop get item after item that are virtually the same and unique makes never show until way down. Do some shops pay extra for showcasing their listings? or is it just a rubbish algorithm. Why not limit a promotion so that any shop has a maximum of 1 or 2 items a page. If it is a rubbish algorithm please tell everyone the trick to beat it.
