Can Doug or someone look at a recent issue please?.
If I am on the forums and see an item listed, go to the shop to like that item…then click the back arrow, it goes back to where I was BUT THEN, the page “jumps” and take me back several posts and I have to manually scroll down to get back to where I was.
This has been happening for a few days now.
At first I thought it was just me but I mentioned it on the daily challenge thread and several other people have said that they are having the same problem
I am on a laptop and a few people said it was ok on their phone but not on their laptop.
Can you look at this please?..thank you x
Yes Brenda @teabreaks I have been having this problem as well and thought it was just me. It is quite annoying at times.
bumping to the top for Doug to see x
I have messaged admin via an email x
It would probably be useful for @dougfolksy if people could list their operating system (version of windows) and browser (safari/chrome/firefox etc) to see if there is a specific combination that is causing issues. It would also be worth anyone having this issue to make sure that their browser is upto date and that they have cleared their cache/ cookies recently.
In the mean time whilst they try and figure out what is causing the issue, instead of clicking on the link and then having to use the back arrow to go back to the forums try right clicking on the item to open it in a new tab your place on the forum thread won’t get lost (you’ll end up with a tab for the forum and a tab for each item you want to like).
thank you Sasha…I am not technically minded but from the comments on the daily listing thread, the problems seem to be across the board…phones, laptops…all of them. It is only a recent problem but annoying…I will try what you suggest but don’t hold out any hope…I will probably get in a mess …lol…x
Hi Doug @dougfolksy I am having this problem and it is very annoying an makes networking such a task these days.
I use Google Chrome OS ver 103.0.5060.132 and don’t use Windows at all.
Please can you fix this as soon as possible, it has now been going on for almost a week new.
I have cleared my history and cache.
@CreationsforTinyTots Chrome 103.0.5060 is a discontinued version, please update Chrome.
If the device you’re using is outdated and unable to install any more recent versions of Chrome, it may help to try using an alternative browser.
Using discontinued browser versions can sometimes cause issues where some features are unable to work properly, and the older the browser is, the more problems you may find start occurring due to incompatibilities with some elements on websites. Using a discontinued browser can also be a security risk.
I am replying via my other shop Oswestry Jewels @kimfolksy. I had the last update of Chrome just after Christmas the only way I will get an update is if I buy a new Chromebook which I cannot do at this time.
The forums have been working fine up till about a week ago so I am not convinced that it is a problem to do with the version of Chrome that I have as a lot of other people on different browsers are having the same problem.
I use google Crome but I did updates a few days ago and am still having this problem. A lot of people on the forums are saying that they have this issue too…
@OswestryJewels It sounds like you’re using a Chromebook that is no longer supported? When you’re using a device like that, it can often come with a particular browser that is part of the system software (such as Chrome on Chromebooks, or Safari on iPads). Once the device is no longer supported, it will often mean none of the system software can update past that point, so you won’t be able to download more recent versions of the default browser.
However, you may be able to get more recent versions of alternative browsers, as these aren’t linked in with the system. It’s harder to give a suggestion without knowing exactly which version of Chromebook you’re using, but searching which browsers work with your particular device should come up with alternatives to try.
We understand that this is a problem that more people than just you are experiencing, but also that it doesn’t seem to be affecting everyone, which suggests it isn’t a problem with the forum itself, but how it interacts with something else which is common to the group of people who are experiencing the issue. Often that may be a particular browser, device or browser extension (such as we know people with extremely old versions of Safari can’t use the new search, and the uBlock Origin extension can cause issues with favouriting). You mention that there are other people using different browsers who are also experiencing this problem, however the only information we have been given is the version of Chrome that you use, and that Brenda uses Chrome but didn’t give us the version.
Unfortunately when we’re only given limited information, it’s very hard to try to diagnose what’s causing the problem, especially when we’re unable to recreate the issue so we can’t test things out ourselves. If we can’t find the cause, it’s difficult to find a solution and determine whether it’s something within our control that we can fix, or if it’s something external and requires a change on the user’s end (such as changing browser or turning off an extension).
The suggestion that @SashaGarrett gave above about opening links in a new tab and then closing them once you’ve favourited the item will help avoid the issue of using the back button. Obviously it would be preferable to just have the back button go back to the point you need, but unfortunately at the moment we don’t have enough information to determine the cause.
As Sasha mentioned, it may help to know the exact device, browser AND browser version people are using if they’re experiencing the problem, along with if they’re using any extensions (or if someone is using the same and isn’t experiencing this issue).
It could also help to know if someone is experiencing the problem and has tried changing browsers or using a private browser instead, and whether this made a difference or not.
