Help please! Out of my depth

Hi

I’ve just had notification of someone in The Philippines wanting to buy one of my bears. This is great but I have never posted anything abroad before. Could any of you lovely lot please offer any advice?

Brilliant to hear Moria. I havn’t posted to the Phillipines but I imagine it would be the same as other destinations (not including the US or Eu).

You need a form CN22, this has to be filled in and stuck on the top of your package, if you don’t have any you can get one from your post office.. do you have an export number EORI? Number, not sure whether you will need it but I always put mine on the box and you will need the classification tariff code; as there isn’t one for collectable bears we have to use

Bears, toys, stuffed which is code number 9503004100

This number will go on the form cn22 where it asks for the HS tariff no

Take your wrapped parcel to your post office and ask them for the form, they will help you (hopefully)

Add the tariff number as shown above and if you have an EORI number you can write it at the top of the label.

Thank you so much Debby, it is exciting but quite daunting. I don’t know why new territory seems to get scarier the older you get  well me anyway!

I have the cn22 now and hopefully the right price (is it just me or is it quite a bit cheaper to buy online?) Cheers for the code number. Can I now make myself sound even more stupid and ask what an EORI number is and where one might find one?

I now feel like Terry Wogan when he used to ask “Do I come here often?”

It is more daunting definitely as we get older, I have to write everything down or I remember nothing ) and get more flustered than I did a few years ago when I have to sort anything new or different.

The EORI number is a unique number for trading outside the UK.

If you go to the .gov.uk website you can apply for one on there, just type ‘apply for EORI’ or similar into their search bar.

You have to fill in a form and need your UTR number ( unique tax reference number) from HMRC the one used when you fill in your year end tax return.

It might take a few days to come through (can’t remember now how long it took).

Yes I think the postage is cheaper online Moira, I now do mine online as postie collects it so it saves me time not having to go into the village, I always said i wouldn’t but when 2nd class signed for lowered the compensation to £20 and my PO didn’t have Tracked 48 available I had no option and over a year later I have got used to the convenience of it and so have continued with it.

Oh don’t forget to wrap him up warm and pack him a snack for the long journey…. One of my regular customers once asked me to pack a snack for her bear so I had to eat a Mars bar and biscuits so that i could add the empty wrappers to the box   she did laughl

Also the idea of justifiable chocolate eating………well it’s a win win! You did it for your art and the benefit of your customers. x

Absolutely and of course as far as my customer is concerned the bear really enjoyed

So apart from telling me, you’ve actually got away with the perfect chocolate related crime. The bear ate the goodies and where is the evidence at this end, no wrappers to be found! :joy:

The evidence was in the box, when I wrapped him he went with Mars bar, sweets and biscuits, apparantly when he arrived there were just empty wrappers…complete mystery Moira but one very happy, full and content little bear.

I love how even when the messages start with me in a panic and cn22 s etc the conversation inevitably ends in chocolate or lemon cake. :joy: x
