Help with improving my shop

Hi creative people,

I used to sell on Etsy; but then mass produced goods from… etc have elbowed me out. Please have a look at my shop when you have couple of minutes to spare and give me your opinion. I set up this shop nearly a month ago; haven’t sold anything yet. Any advice please.
Thank you… : )

welcome to Folksy…It is a lovely place to be.
Everyone is very helpful, so join in and chat on the forums…( totally different from E ) Also join in on the challenge thread…it is hard work ( the instructions are there to read for joining in )…that way people will get to know your name…getting known is the hardest part but we are all here to help.
Jewellery can be very competitive, so show it on the other threads…“what have you listed today”,.Say hello…
It does take a while on Folksy to get noticed so keep moving your items around so that your shop front always looks different and interesting…however you can only do that if you sign up to the plus account…and it really IS worth it…unlimited listings for 4 months…I have over 400 items in my shop all for that price…you don’t get THAT on E…it also gives you other benefits , like having a few items featured at the top of your shop and these rotate, so that every time anyone visits your shop, they change…makes your shop window more inviting. ( you have to choose a minimum of 3 items to feature for this to work)…financially it beats the dark side hands down and you have a lot of items in your shop so it would work out cheaper for you. Hope some of this helps…x

welcome to Folksy, just a few pointers from me. You should use all your tags to help with search, include multi word tags. This one for example Boho trendy bracelet and earrings set, bright r... - Folksy

you could add festival jewellery, friendship bracelet, handmade bracelet and earrings, bracelet and earring set. Add tags that you would use if you were searching for it.

Also I find customers like to know a bit about how it was made, describe your design process. Rather than just putting ‘metal’ can you specify stainless steel for example or silver plated etc. people like to know what metal due to allergies. You should also include all the materials used in the materials section as well for customers info.

Also have you got a link from social media to your shop and vice versa?

As Folksy is not as big as the other place you do need to drive traffic to your shop as well, so sharing on social media helps. I do find it’s quieter this year generally, I think people are being very cautious with the increased cost of living and not having so much to spend on non-essentials. It took me 3 months to make that first sale when I joined so don’t give up hope.

Good luck

You’ve got some lovely pieces. Your descriptions could use some work. On this listing the description is really short: Jade & bead single strand necklace with sil... - Folksy

How should I style the necklace? What type of event or outfit is it perfect for? Should I know anything about maintenance or storage? Where did you source the beads? Is there a story behind your inspiration for the item? It’s also worth having a photo with the necklace on a model or mannequin so I can get an idea of what it will look like on.

Good luck!!
