Hi, Well done to everyone who took part. I didn’t take part as I felt the amount of time I would spend creating the bundles wouldn’t be worth the effort. But if it is a regular event - one or two times - a year I will create bundles amongst my general listings, maybe one or two a month so when an event is on I have my bundles already listed.
Hi Camilla.
I thought the templates were great – and I used them as the primary photo in the listings to make the bundles stand out in my shop.
I sold one bundle (to another Folksy seller), but also gained a few new page followers on Instagram.
I thought the Folksy community did a great job sharing each other’s posts, and commenting on them, so thank you to everyone who shared mine.
I definitely think it could be repeated a few times during the year. Maybe seasonal bundles.
Hi
I made some time creating bundle photos plus using existing listings but taking money off so people could see the savings they would be making.
I made no sales and was extremely disappointed especially as some items such as the tapestry/ emproidery threads were a bargain. I was selling them as I don’t enjoy doing it and my auntie had spent a fortune on them for me as a gift!
I also had some good price silver plated copper bundles for sale at very good prices. I was so surprised other wire work jewellery makers had not snapped them up as copper has increased in price. Genuine silver plate copper wire is now being replaced with silver tone over copper. My husband said I could probably get more money selling the lot to a copper scrap dealer! The 100 metre wheels of copper silver plated wire cost me well over the price I had them on offer for. I will keep them listed just in case someone missed the offer, or are still thinking about it and have done their homework!
I will not be going it again. I did a quick check on others sellers who took part before midnight and those who mainly sold had items sold for under £10.00! Like myself a good number of sellers who took part didn’t make a single sale either, so i was not so disappointed or hard on myself. If these sort of events are done on a very regular basis the public will cotton on it’s a fancy version of having a sale! Do we really want to go down that road earning well below the minimum working wage if it’s not a hobby when it’s our full time job 24/7!
I had hopes for this event. I already had some listings that could be tagged, and could quickly assemble some other gift sets to photograph. The plan was to list several each day, and to use the “tweet or pin” feature of a new listing to help with the social media aspect.
The tweet/pin function worked fine on Friday, but not on Saturday or Sunday. I spent more time on the promotion technicalities of each listing, so added fewer listings than intended.
I needn’t have worried - the pins were only seen 9 times, the best tweets loved 3 times, and searches of “beautiful bundles” only 2 times. This could easily have been fellow Folksy sellers. Anyway, the result was zero sales.
I think the concept was a good one, it just didn’t work for me this time. It was appropriate to the time of year for Father’s Day and Wedding present buyers. It could be repeated later e.g. October for early Christmas buyers. Discounted prices should not need to be a feature.
I took part in this event as I already had some card bundles in my shop though I didn’t offer sale prices. I enjoyed using the templates and got a slight increase in views on Folksy and Instagram but no sales ( though I did make a sale the day after but not on a bundle so may not be related.) I tried to support other sellers by liking as many posts as possible though think I need to prepare earlier in future. I did a reel on Instagram but got very few views on that. I have another successful non-selling Instagram account but can’t seem to replicate this success with my Folksy shop Instagram. I liked the buzz about the event and support from other Folksy sellers so would definitely take part in a similar event again. Hopefully it helped to raise Folksy’s profile a little. Will be interested to see when you let us know the statistics for the event.
I had a great weekend sharing posts of other makers to my stories and vice versa!
I made a bundle sale on the weekend too! ![]()
I particularly loved the graphics you shared on what the beautiful bundles event was etc and shared that on my posts as well!
My top three looked at items were my bundle sets and I’ve definitely had an uplift in view sets too!
Cheers, Amanda
I sold three of my four listed bundles, so I am pleased with that x
