I woke up in the night and…

Found my cat enjoying a picture of Prince William! This was not on my screen when I went to bed, somehow she managed to open it with her little paw from somewhere! (She does touch the screen a lot when I’m asleep and my biggest fear is that she’s going to put the camera on and live stream me snoring on Instagram or something!)

What’s the weirdest thing that has happened to you in the middle of the night? (Keep it PG!)

This is brilliant Sarah.
Without wanting to leave you with a vision that’ll scare you, I woke up early hours of the morning about a month ago when Sadie( the pooch) barked downstairs. Now I always for some reason I’m sure someone cleverer than me will know the answer to, wake up with a song or music going round in my head. well this time it was YMCA by Village People and I danced down the stairs doing the actions to see what she was barking at.
I did think afterwards that thank goodness we weren’t being burgled as the poor burglar would have needed counselling at the sight of a 55 year old woman doing the YMCA actions coming down the stairs dressed in an old tatty wrestling t-shirt with wild hair sticking out everywhere!

Tee hee, this is such fun!

In the summer I woke up and noticed that I had muddy feet, my first thought was that I’d been sleep walking and had been wandering around our village, not wishing to scare anyone but I sleep au natural . The thought of me wandering around highlighted by moonlight made me feel quite queasy for a while, then I remembered watering the garden barefoot before bed. Phew!

I am always getting woken in the night by Spirit beings. My phone goes when it is turned off…waking me with a start.
Yesterday I was woken with a voice saying "Hi Cupboard "…made no sense to me at all…later in the day I got a sale and had to go to my spare room and climb on a step ladder to get the sold item…from a HIGH Cupboard…ha ha ha
Faces, voices, noises ( not my bodily ones ha ha )…it all goes on here…lol

My favourite ‘wake up’ was when I woke up sat at the top of the stairs in fits of laughter, good job I didn’t fall. Not sure what I was dreaming.

My immediate thought too Gail! Do let us know when the bags of catnip and jellied mice start arriving, Sarah @dotterypottery

A year or two ago, my dad was visiting us at our house (he lives away from us) and sleeping over a couple of nights, and he stayed in the spare room, which is next to mine. One early morning just as the sun was beginning to rise, I was woken up by this strange noise that sounded like one of those handheld woodwork saws that you use to cut through thick pieces of wood (sorry, don’t know its proper name!). I didn’t really think much of it as my neighbours sometimes do their carpentry in their back garden early in the morning regardless of the time of year, so I thought it must be that. A couple minutes passed and I noticed that this sound came a bit too rhythmically, kind of like “whoosh……..whoosh……..whoosh……..whoosh……..” and I thought to myself ‘my neighbours are being waaay too careful compared to how they usually work’. But then!! The next noises I heard were “HRRRRKK! -cough!- -gasp!-” - turns out that that ‘whooshing’ noise was my dad snoring! I cringed so hard, I was like Tom & Jerry jumping out of bed in surprise! :grimacing:  It still makes me cringe now just thinking about it, so apologies if I’ve made anyone else feel itchy too!

(Edited to add; he has had surgery to try and cure him of his thunderous snoring but sadly it didn’t seem to have any effect).

Loving all your nighttime escapades!

Surprised we’re not all walking around with big bags under our eyes!

The other night I woke up to go to the toilet and when I came back to bed, I realised that my foot was all wet! I looked down at the floor next to my bed and I could see a puddle. My first thoughts were, has the dog weed, has the cat weed, has the cat been sick, has Mr DP weed, has the ceiling leaked and finally…. Have I leaked? :see_no_evil_monkey::joy:
I got a bit of tissue and mopped at it…no odour, no colour….no present danger so I went back to sleep.
The next night the same thing happened again but I actually realised what was happening.
I have a bottle of iced water that I take to bed with me (menopausal) quite often I get up in the night just for a sip. I realised that when I first open the bottle of ice water, quite a lot of the water gets displaced (I guess something to do with science) When I take the first sip in the middle of the night, it’s literally just spilling all over the floor before it gets to my mouth… in my half asleep state I had never noticed before.
It was quite a relief to know that I wasn’t actually wetting myself :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Sarah @dotterypottery …not laughing honest…
I bought a baby’s Tommy Tippee cup with a lid and handles…lol.
I like a sip of water in the night but my hands ( arthritic ) struggle to hold a glass or ordinary cup and the baby cup is the answer.
When Hubby was alive he was forever knocking glasses of water over in the night and on one occasion breaking the glass all over the floor…so we both had to get up, clear up and hoover to make sure that there was no glass to tread on.
Plastic baby cups with a spout, a lid and two handles is the perfect answer..x

Great idea Brenda. I use an insulated mug which has a lid with a hole with a slidy cover. I put some icecubes in with my water and it stays cool all night and it’s much less likely to spill if I drop it … oops.

Louise - there are dedicated sites on the internet where people pay good money to see that sort of thing….!

I’m a dab hand at startling myself awake. I have a close friend who can attest to my… some what erratic sleep related antics.

We were camping in a field and I woke up at some unknown hour. According to him, I screamed, farted, then screamed again and went back to sleep.

I once woke up to find a huge dark figure looming over me. Needless to say I near jumped out my skin only to discover it was a coat.
