Hi – sorry this is rather terse – more details here: https://status.folksy.com/2018/02/20/folksy-outage-0010/
Thanks,
Doug.
Hello again – sorry about that!
One of our servers ran out of memory – I’ve re-provisioned it with four times as much, so we should be good for a while, now.
Thanks again for bearing with us,
Doug.
Doug @dougfolksy - when I read this I assumed that was the reason I kept getting a server error yesterday but it is still happening, not all the time but just every so often - is this due to a different error
Hello @dougfolksy
500 internal error is what I am getting when I try to see my orders?
Is this a new glitch?
Suzzie
In fact now when I press orders on my account it just didn’t go there, doesn’t even recognize it.
Hi @OrchardFelts and @thistledownandHOPE.
What you both mention wouldn’t have been caused by the outage.
I’ve had a look for anything obviously wrong but can’t see anything.
To be on the safe side I’ve restarted the services that run things like the orders page – are you still seeing the same error @thistledownandHOPE?
And do you have any sense of which page(s) you were seeing a server error on, @OrchardFelts?
Oh, and crucially, have you let support know about the issues? They are brilliant at collating any reported issues and helping me fix them!
And thanks again (as always!) for your feedback.
Doug.
Hi doug @dougfolksy - I was getting the error randomly when moving around the site - viewing items, opening my dashboard etc etc. It wasn’t happening all the time and usually if I went back and tried again all was OK. It was the same error as Suzzie @thistledownandHOPE. I will let you know if it continues.
Just an update - just had it happen again when clicking on a link from the forums to view someones item.
I got one of these this morning too, when trying to look at a newly listed item from another seller. I just went back a page, then tried again and it worked, so didn’t think anything of it.
Hmm. Thanks for reporting those.
Can you remember which item it happened with just now, @OrchardFelts?
That would help me look for it in the logs to see if there are any clues there.
Thanks again,
Doug.
Just happened when trying to love this item - https://folksy.com/items/3018810-Peach-and-Red-Crochet-Bookmark-Girls-Ladies-Gift-Mothers-Day-Present - but succeeded at third attempt! Has happened on others too but can’t remember which ones
Dougfolksy @dougfolksy - I’ve had that happening for the last few days too when I’ve tried to like people’s work, also when I’ve gone to re-list and again when I tried to leave feedback. So it appears to be happening over quite a few areas! I’m using google chrome btw in case this makes a difference.
Brilliant, thank you – I’ll go and have an investigate.
Hello again – just an update.
I’ve been geeking around the servers and it looks like a couple of them have been struggling for a couple of reasons.
I’ve rebooted (and replaced, where appropriate) those servers, and the number of errors reported by our load balancer has gone down, so that looks like it was the issue.
I will of course be keeping an eye on things generally, of course, and having a bit more of a look around to see if anything else looks amiss, but hopefully that’s got the issue.
I’ve also created an alarm that should notify me if this happens again, but please do let us know if you see anything in the meantime.
And thank you so much again for letting us know about the issue!
Doug.
Reading that last post back, I really needed to find a synonym for ‘issue’.
Doug @dougfolksy - just been trying to love some items and all I am getting when I click on “love” is a blank page with this on it
Ah, thank you – it should be working again, now.
I’ve just been testing a new server – obviously I’ve a little more work to do on it!
Thanks again for letting me know!
All working again now - thanks
Thanks again for the headsup about favouriting, there – I’ve fixed that on the server I was working on, put it back live and tested favouriting successfully.
You’re a life-saver!
