Monthly Art Chat : November

Afternoon all! I’m having problems with my wifi at the moment so apologies if I’m not around much. It’s hugely frustrating as I can’t get on to the bay to find out who to post a card to

We had a tutor at art club this morning, he’s absolutely fabulous, he did a stick figure to 3d figure workshop with us which was a big success. All the ladies said how much fun they’d had, which is a relief - being secretary/treasurer it can be stressful organising these things!

Brenda I’ve done acrylic aceos in the past and as long as your acrylics are fluid enough you’ll have no trouble.

Evening all, that is beautiful Brenda.

Hello everyone.

I’ve been having a waxing morning - up very early and painting even before it was light lol

Had a great session so far, this is an ACEO from today I’m calling it view from the bridge.

Brenda that is awesome! Love it

Lovely ACEO Hazel, I love the way it draws the viewer off into the distance.

Thanks Margaret  hope you are having a good day

Yes thanks, but busy! I went for an early morning walk of 3,500 steps, then took Mum and Dad out to Nantwich for some shopping. Got Christmas sorted for the most part. This afternoon I’m taking them out to our newly refurbished Sainsburies. Doesn’t sound too exciting but they want to see the transformation! When that’s done I’ll bake a cake and get the evening meal sorted. Hope to do some sewing tonight

Sounds good and very productive. Enjoy your shopping and well done on getting your Christmas sorted. I haven’t started mine and I’m normally an early shopper, the cards are sorted but that’s it.

What sort of cake are you making ?

I’ve been enjoying my painting time just stopped for lunch and got the veg ready for tonight’s dinner too so I can carry on in my studio …

This is new too 6 x 4 inches …

Just had a closer look at your new one - very pretty … Spotted a typo : ready to hand should that be hang ?

Very grey day here but I don’t mind I’ve had a good painting day.

That’s lovely too, very restful scene.

I’m baking an almond cake. It’s the only cake I know how to make!lol I make one every week. I used to make a plain sponge cake too, but Dad’s gone off it for some reason. I know I could learn new recipes but that takes time, which I don’t have much of a the moment.

Waving Brenda.

Oooh an almond cake sounds nice Margaret! I had a slice of christmas cake while we were out shopping today but it was quite disappointing, nowhere near as nice as a home baked cake.

Pretty scenes Hazel, it’s nice to have a day in the studio.

Beautitful mountain scene Brenda, it reminds me of the Canadian Rockies. You’ve got the lake and mountain colouring perfectly.

I had a good day - I broke through the 100 sales barrier on Folksy today :boom: :boom: I’m so pleased, it was beginning to feel like I was stuck in the 90s. And I did some painting at the library too, a couple of beach scenes to replace the ones I sold today.

A not so good thing happened to me this afternoon - my adder (the bit of the brain that adds things up) failed me in the art shop…I went to buy pastel paper for my local art club for next Friday’s demo, and was convinced that 10 lots of £1.70 would be around £10. Got a shock when it was £17.70! I never was any good at mental maths despite having a first class degree in Maths lol. Sadly I had to pay up as I’d got them to slice the A2 sheets of paper in half already. I feel really bad now, the club is not wealthy and £7 is a lot of money to them.

Congrats on the 100 sales Stephie

I know what you mean about the adding, I was in “accounting” for many years, so should be able to count but hubby is amazed at me sometimes when I add things quickly and wrongly lol I say its meno brain lol

Almond cake sounds nice Margaret, I have to admit chocolate cake is my favourite

Thanks Hazel, it might not feel like it at times, but the plus account really was worth it for me. Over a hundred sales since I set up this shop in January…celebrations tonight in the Guy household

Ha ha Stephie…10 x £1.70 is £17.00, .
and I FAILED my maths O level…lol…
Hazel corrected the typo…I type so fast at times and never look at the keyboard…but it was late last night, so the thing I forgot was to check before listing !!..lesson learnt.
must be mistakes day…lol

Morning everyone, loving the new wax art Hazel, I didn’t get any painting in yesterday at all, spent the day pricing up and getting ready for a fair today, but I’m hoping to do something tomorrow I have a day off and the car’s in the garage so I’m stuck at home, what better excuse lol!

Yeah well done Stephie, it’s great to reach a milestone

waving hi to Maragret almond cake sounds yummy

Brenda how are you getting on with ACEO acrylics?. I actually bought myself a starter pack and some paper, but not got around to trying they yet!

Hi Leslie, fab mosaics, great idea

I’m hoping the site in general is starting to pick back up, when I logged in yesterday the ‘you are one of the 400 or so people looking right now’ counter was well over 1200, first time I have seen that number

Thanks Max
Hope you have a good day at the fair. And yes I noticed that about the hit counter too, I had a couple of sales from my offer but it’s still quiet here for me, over there I’m doing good I have three to post today

Hope you all have a good day.

Hazel.

Afternoon all!

Hi Leslie, your dachshund is lovely, what a great idea for a piece of custom Mosaic art.

Well done on the sales Stephie.

Next Saturday I’m heading off to the local garden centre to a watercolour Christmas card workshop with a local artist. It’s only £20 from 10 till 3, should be fun. It’s weeks since I’ve painted anything so it might get me back into the painting mood!
