Hi folks,
Being new to folksy I’ve spent most of today trying to sort out my shop and make sure I’ve listed things correctly. Admin chores have never been my strong put unfortunately!
I am currently working on a new painted and part sculpted stone with a ghostly Banshee design. (see pictures below)
Most of my work is very time consuming so I won’t bore you too much with the process but let me tell how I start making my 3 dimensional rocks.
I normally start with either a rough sketch or a lightly painted image drawn directly on to the surface of the rock. When that has dried I add the detail to the design and complete the base painting. The next step is applying my quick drying craft resin (pear effects) Once the whole painting is covered I repeat the process over and over until the image begins to raise of the rock and create a 3D texture. The resin can then be painted over with a final layer of acrylic adding details and colour tones. Depending on the design I sometimes chose to add wool felt for hair or other textures.
It’s a can be quite tricky to get right and there really isn’t much room for mistakes but now after 3 years of trial and error I’m finally starting to achieve great results.
If anyone is interested in seeing the finished products please feel free to browse my shop.
I’ve got a lot to sort out yet but once I’ve finished with the boring stuff I’m looking forward to posting some progress videos to show folks a step by step guide to my rock designs.
Happy crafting
Christopher
