My Nostalgic Cards

Hi I make beautiful one of a kind unique greetings cards. I love them to be traditional & nostalgic & occasionally quirky. I am aiming to make Folksy my main selling point but I do craft fairs too. I’m new to all this so looking forward to seeing other people’s posts & reading their news

Welcome to Folksy, hope you do well, I just gad a quick look at your shop, looks very festive, I noticed on some of your cards there is a " A handmade deckle edged insert with verse is inside" but you have not shown any photos of it, you can upload up to 10 photos (I think its 10) you might as well use up some of your allowance, hope you don’t mind me mentioning this. Love your cards, they look great.

(this is where I end up feeling like a meanie for pointing out a few things that could be improved)
Photos - Folksy crop the images shown on our shop fronts and in search results to a square, because your images are portrait rectangles you are loosing a strip from the top and bottom in those thumbnail images. I pre crop my images to square (I use picasa) to make sure that I’m happy with how they will be displayed.
Tags - whilst not as important as they once were tags are used by the search algorithm to decide how to rank items in the search results so they are worth including. The listings I looked at had no tags so it is worth going back and adding tags. They can be multi word phrases that people might put in the search bar like ‘nostalgic christmas card’ or ‘vintage style christmas card’.
Postage - by including the postage in the items price you will end up paying Folksy commission on it as well as paypal/stripe fees (if it’s separate you only pay paypal/ stripe fees on it). Personally when I’m shopping I dislike postage that has been included in the item price as it means that when/ if I buy multiple items I end up paying for multiple lots of included postage, I prefer a separate, flat rate, postage. But that might just be me.
There is loads of useful info in the folksy blog - here’s a link if you’ve not already discovered it. https://blog.folksy.com/

Welcome on board. Loving your cards. So very special.

A quick note from me - when you go to Fairs, pop your shop on holiday as it will stop an online shopper buying the very same item you’ve sold at the Fair. Has just happened to me and I had never thought of putting my shop on holiday mode and of course, I didn’t get home early enough to remove the item before the sale went through :upside_down_face:

Sorry, Caroline. I should have thought to mention that. I learned that the hard way too. I sold the same tractor apron twice. Highly embarrassing! Francis manages to delete things sold on his phone when he sells them. I don’t think I am capable of that. Since you have a very large stock, you could have separate stock for live fairs and for Folksy as some sellers do.
