Anyone else used this new service? (Is it new or am I late to the party?) I tried it yesterday and it’s brilliant! I was able to pay for my postage online and print out the labels but best of all, there is a Spar shop with a Post Office counter in a near by village that opens at 6am and my husband can just drop the post off with them on his way to work! He doesn’t even need to wait for proof of postage. I will never have to wait in or cause a queue in a Post Office again. Brilliant!

If you sign up for it it will say that before you can start using the service you have to link your ebay account but you don’t. It is set up to help ebay sellers but you can use it without dong that. Takes a wee bit of navigating but pretty easy once you get familiar with it.
I’m considering it too but will probably set it up in the New Year. It’s good to hear that you’re having a positive experience with it - don’t think there’s anything to lose.
I suppose I shouldn’t be all skipping and dancing about it until I know the things have arrived safely lol.
I have been using it now for years, it does make life so much easier
Have they revamped it then Donna? I was put off using it when I first started out as it required you sign up with a credit card. You can pay using Paypal now.
I don’t know to be honest Aileen, I have a paypal pre-paid credit card and use that for everything business related. I’ll log into my account now and have a look for you
Edit- No they still insist you use a debit or credit card I’m afraid x
The Click and Drop is definitely a new service then. I’ve noticed that my username and password for it don’t work for the main Royal Mail website, only on parcel.royalmail.com one. It comes under business services.
Is it not the same thing? I print my labels and drop them off at the P.O. I’m going to have a look now
I’ve used the online postage tool which saves time queuing at the post office - yes, however after having an issue where several of the items went missing, despite there being a reference on the online system of my buying the postage - as I had no proof of postage I could not claim for the missing items.
Consequently I am back queuing in the post office buying my postage and getting proof of postage.
Reading about this service it seems similar… “If you don’t need proof of postage…” I know many people post without getting proof and have no problems - but with the issues I’ve had, I’m still wary.
This service I have now discovered is only 4 weeks old and you can print a proof of postage as well.
Thank you @AileenClarkeCrafts for this info. I have saved the link on my ipad and shall have a read of it later. I’m spending the day getting all the useful links saved especially the facebook changes and in the new year I shall have a good read of all of them and change accordingly.
I think you can pick up your proofs of postage for your posted items later when it’s convenient for you. It uses a pre-paid card so you’re not paying for postage online. The PO workers just process them for you & your account is debited with the correct amount.
No this is different to Drop and Go @Fantoosh. It doesn’t involve a pre paid card or using the drop and go service at the post office. You print out your own postage labels and pay using Paypal. You can then either pop your parcels in a post box or hand them in at the post office if they don’t fit in a post box and you can print your proof of postage out at home
I thought it was different - I’m going to try Drop & Go. At least then I avoid the possibility of getting the postage wrong at home
I’ve only just spotted this topic and have to say a big thank you. I’ve been using the online postage system which doesn’t accept paypal nor give you proof of posting without queuing at the post office (once got turned away and told they wouldn’t give me this, but that’s a different story). Royal Mail still let you use the service I’ve been using and have never advised of the new service - madness!
Thanks again, at least I can now obtain proof of posting without having to keep my fingers crossed whenever I pop something in the post box x
I’ve just signed up to this service - I didn’t even know that it existed.
Couple of quick questions:
I have printed the postage for a large letter - can I pop it in the postbox or do I have to take it to a Post Office?
The proof of postage is not proof of receipt - would I have to print out my paypal purchases list at the end of each month for the taxman now to show what I have spent on postage?
I’m glad this post has been of help to others Yes you can just pop them in the post box. I would just tot up at the end of each month what you have spent on postage Dottery. I don’t print out all my receipts. It’s all there on Paypal if anyone from the HMRC needs to check.
I have had to sign up to the oher service for my International post. Such a pain.
Thanks Aileen
so what is the difference between buying postage online the normal way and the clickndrop? is it just for parcels? I mainly use large letter post
I like the idea behind the service and the fact you get proof of posting but having to pay for each item individually is a pain. I’ve only used it once so far for two items but can’t decide if I will use it again as I can’t use my existing labels with it. Also, does it store the addresses at all?
The main difference @dianesdecoupage is that you get proof of posting which you don’t get with online postage - the only way to get proof is to take it to a post office, defeating the object o online posting lol x
