Hello all. I don’t know if it’s just a brain freeze but I can’t seem to find the ‘official’ folksy advice page for using social media? I have just started using Instagram for a different shop on the ‘dark side’, but aim to create a folksy one once I learn how it works. I haven’t really got a clue what I’m doing at the moment though! Any of your tips etc would be very gratefully received. I don’t really know who to follow to generate sales/shop visits, what days/time/how often to post, what ‘numbers’ I should be expecting and how to use # and @ effectively !!!

Hi I’m new too. My Instagram is @betibutsihandmade. I will endeavour to follow everyone on this list but it may take some time as there are lots of you on here now. I make a variety of handmade things based on what I need and like. At the moment I have crochet dishcloths, cotton crochet bracelets or anklets and handy drawstring bags. Becca @Bimblebird I just spotted the link over on the clubhouse group - here it is
As far as my tips go…try & find some other accounts offering similar products that have a lot of followers & check out what tags they use, what kind of posts get most reaction etc. You could look in your insight section to see when most of your followers are online, but to be honest it’s not such an issue with IG as posts don’t disappear to die like they do on FB 
I try & consistently post every weekday, & I auto share the post across to FB so I rarely post direct on there any more.
As far as numbers go - it’s a whole lot easier to reach people & build a following on IG, I’ve just passed 1000 followers, but FB has stalled at around the 200 mark & I set that page up first! My FB post from last night got a whopping 9 reactions & reach of 87 - that’s unlikely to change now with the way news feeds are set up. The same post on IG has 59 likes & a reach of 323 so far, so a much better platform for me. Try not to overthink it (easier said I know)…I started out just winging it & feel reasonably confident now - you’ll get there!
It’s a constant learning curve - I’m going to try & set up IG shopping next, should be fun!

Thank you so much for the info Dee @OrukiDesign. I’m just blundering about and hoping for the best but maybe that’s a more organic way of learning! I’m enjoying IG at the moment despite my Social Media phobia though. Will definitely check out the folksy info and try out your tips.x😊

I opened my folksy shop a few years ago but only half heartedly and never renewed the listings. I thought I would give it another try and started again in April.
