New shop intro - Rustic wood art

Hello Folksy community! :waving_hand:

I’ve just opened up my shop here and wanted to introduce myself. I create handmade, rustic pine wood art that celebrates nature, woodland scenery, and beautiful landscapes.

My main pieces are crafted in 20x30 cm and sleek 9x30 cm dimensions. They are designed to bring a little bit of the rustic outdoors inside, showcasing beautiful photography blended seamlessly onto natural pine using a detailed art transfer technique.

Pop by and say hello if you love a reclaimed wood aesthetic! I’m excited to be part of the forum.

Very lovely! Do you take the photos yourself?

Hi, and a welcome to Folksy from me. Beautiful items! Wishing you every success with your shop.

Thank you so much, Helen! Yes, the nature and landscape photographs transferred onto the wood are my own work. However, because I’m still setting up my studio space, the cozy background settings you see are digital mockups I use to show how the physical pieces look styled in a home environment. The wood blocks themselves are entirely real and handmade by me!

Hi Liz, thank you so much for the warm welcome and the kind words! It’s wonderful to meet you, and I’m really excited to be part of the community here. Wishing you plenty of success with your shop as well!

Sorry , I wasn’t very clear…

I was wondering if you took the photo of the lady with the green veil, for instance, or created the original image of the rose rising from the crevasse. Or if you are sourcing the images from elsewhere before using your photographic process to transfer them to the wood block.

Ah, I understand your question now, Helen! My apologies for the mix-up.

No, I didn’t take the original photos for the lady or the rose myself. For those stylized, artistic designs, I source and license the core images from digital art platforms. I then digitally edit and adapt them to match the rustic, textured vibe of the wood before completing the physical transfer process onto the pine blocks.

Thank you, I understand. Your items are lovely, hope you do well here.

Hello and welcome to Folksy, you have a lovely shop and your items are beautiful.
Can I ask why all your items are in a sale if you’ve only just opened your shop? There are rules around offering items at sale prices and having to sell them at full price for a certain period before you can do this and I would hate for you to get into trouble as you’ve only just started out. I hope you don’t mind me mentioning this.
Good luck with your shop.

Hi Hilary,

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and for the incredibly helpful heads-up! I am completely new to this and wasn’t aware of that pricing rule for new shops.

I really appreciate you looking out for me. I’ll go ahead and update my listings right away to fix it.

Thanks again and best of luck with your shop too!

You’re very welcome.

Hi, really gorgeous items. Wishing you well with sales. x

Hi Claire, thank you so much for the lovely comment! I really appreciate the support. Wishing you all the best with your shop as well!

Lovely shop and items, good luck. I was going to say the same as Hilary about not offering items for sale as a new shop but I can see you have already taken them off, hope it goes well for you.

Hi Debby, thank you so much for the lovely feedback and the warm welcome! Yes, I’m still finding my feet with the forum guidelines and realized my mistake, so I wanted to get that sorted straight away. I really appreciate you looking out for me, and I wish you all the best with your shop as well!
