Hello everybody. I am a photographer and have recently set up my shop, F2 Imprint. After an initial flurry of orders to friends I have made no further sale. Please could you offer some advice or suggestions about my shop and how I might promote myself. I have a website and social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Hi Keith and welcome!
There is a thread called ānew sellers leave your intagram link hereā (or something like that) that you can pop across to https://talk.folksy.com/t/new-sellers-leave-your-instagram-link-here/ (not sure if I have linked that properly!) where you can say hello!
Hi Keith. I think your photography is beautiful and Iām not surprised you have had a flurry of sales.
I clicked on your āstill water yachtā listing and confess to feeling a little confused. You say that each image varies in size, but I couldnāt find the image size for this particular photograph. When I click on options, there was one extra option available (greetings card A4, +Ā£20), but still no indication of what I am getting if I go for the basic Ā£4.50 option. Online shoppers are not always known for their propensity to sift through a lot of information, so it might be a barrier to sales. Iām sure if you find a way of simplifying it, you will go far. This all could just be me being really stupid of course!
I have started following you on Instagram and Twitter.
Hello Chris. Thank you for the follows. I have have made some adjustments to that item. Does this make it a bit clearer.
Iām not going to be much help on the social media side of things but I know a little bit about search algorithms which might be of some help to you. When someone enters a term into the search box the algorithm goes away and looks for that term in the title, description and tags and then produces a list of all the listings which have the term, the order of that list depends on how well it thinks they fit the term. So if the search term is āboat greetings cardā it will put the items with āboat greetings cardā in the title AND description AND tags at the top of the pile. You donāt mention card or print in either your titles or tags which means that you wonāt rank particularly well in the search results - I ran a search for āboat greetings cardā and by my count 6 of your listings should fit that descriptor only 1 was returned in the search results (and that was on the second page of 2 pages). There are several articles on how to write a description that gets found in searches on the folksy blog https://blog.folksy.com/how-to-sell-craft-online-folksy-seller-handbook
Many thanks for the advice Sasha. U have made some changes to my shop. Itās probably a bit belt and braces. I will look at the articles you suggest. Once again, many thanks.
