Newbie saying hello šŸ˜

Hi guys new to Folksy
I am an artist who creates paintings on the reverse side of glass and acrylic glass, I have been thinking of using this site for a while and have finally taken the plungeā€¦ I have tried Etsy but felt I was getting lost in the crowdā€¦ Would be interested to know how u guys (especially the artists) find this site in terms of sales and feedback?
Here are a few examples of my work.
Thanks in advance

Hello from another fellow newbie. I only opened my Folksy Store 2 weeks ago. I have found this a very different forum to use from what I have been used to, but thatā€™s partly because I have yet to sell my own handcrafted items and am currently selling craft supplies. As you have had the experience of the ā€˜other sideā€™, you may find it an easier transfer.

I love what I have seen so far of your work and wish you lots of luck with your Folksy Store.

Hello and welcome to Folksy.

Thank youā€¦ I canā€™t explain the pleasure u get from selling something you have created yourselfā€¦ You should get making :+1:

Thank you

Donā€™t worry, I will be. Thank you for the encouragement. As a crafter and designer, this was my inspiration for starting my business. The retail side of selling craft supplies and gifts became my ā€˜bread and butterā€™ and took over as a full-time business, giving me little precious time to make my own creations. I also run a craft group though and attend others which has given me the opportunity to start crafting again. I do intend to take that leap of faith and include some of my own makes in my Store too, hence the reason I was drawn to Folksy.

Looking forward to seeing more of your awe-inspiring creations.

Ah thank youā€¦ I was gonna say get busy but it sounds like your already very busy :joy:

Indeed I am. I started my business over 7 years ago, after leaving local government, following diagnosis of chronic health conditions 10 years ago, with the intention that I would be able to have more control of my working pattern. Thatā€™s not exactly what has happened. The current market forces have dictated that I have to work twice as hard, just to stay in business. But I also do appreciate that feeling of euphoria, mixed with relief, that comes from every sale.

Ken, come and join us on the September art chat threadā€¦share your art with your fellow artistsā€¦we are a friendly lot ā€¦lovely to see another artist hereā€¦I have sold over 600 paintings on folksy, so it can be quite good but you have to join in and chat.
Get to know us allā€¦x

Hi Ken. Always great to see new artists on Folksy. Your work is refreshing and different.
Like you, I got bit lost on the other site too. I have been selling my art on Folksy for 10 months and have just made my 22nd sale. It can take a little while to establish yourself, so you will need a little patience. You also have to do a bit of work to get the sales. Folksy isnā€™t a post and run site, you need to promote your work on social media. Joining in with the forums will also help you get seen as we favourite and promote each others listings. Think of Folksy as your own website (except itā€™s cheaper and easier to manage than your own site would be). You also need too get your descriptions/ SEO right so that Google will pick up your items. Iā€™m not an expert, but be as descriptive as possible and think of words/ phrases people might use when they are searching for items like yours (though if youā€™ve been on E, you will know this, sorry if Iā€™m teaching my grandmother to suck eggs!). Same with the tags, these help your search rankings on the Folksy site itself. Keep an eye on Folksy theme of the day, you can use themed tags that could put you on the front page.
As Brenda @teabreaks says, the art thread here on the forums is a great place to chat to other Folksy artists, promote your work, get advice, or just have a chat.
