No Buy February (supplies)

I literally have every colour on my shelf but this looks better quality …no hope for us really. Very well done on abandoning the cart

I am very proud of the resilience of some of you the others well? Incorrigible.

Ha ha maybe the staff thought I was fat enough already! I did look in the fridge bit, I do like their Victoria sponge but I didn’t see any bramley apple sponge so maybe they had sold out. Maybe next time I’ll find it.

I’ve heard the phrase SABLE used for when you have more than you’ll ever need / be able to use of something - Stuff Aquired Beyond Life Expectancy!

I’m ā€˜only’ 58 but I think most of my craft supplies would fall into that category

My excuse on glass (which I use frequently to Bob when he tells me I only just broke even the month before re sales vs purchases  ) there’s not much point having 20 sheets of green glass when you are trying to make a red Santa Claus.

Oh I’m glad im not the only one to slip!!!

I wanted to add some luxury wool booties and there was a sale on ther merino wool!!! I had it in my basket for 2 days before it appeared in the order placed section.

I have already used 24 of the earring bails and hooks so I Can justify that purchase

Not sure about the skirt I bought on Ebay today But I am going to the Theo Paphitis SBS Award thingy next week and as I am going to receive my SBS award from the Man himself I need it !!

Oh how exciting Joy you absolutely need that new skirt, well done on the award, I hope you have a fabulous ceremony.
But oh no, I didn’t realise we couldn’t buy clothes …I can’t justify my new outfits from Killstar last week, I didn’t need them but I did like them  and in my defence I didn’t know I had to sit on my hands completely throughout February. I will try harder …my school reports always said ā€˜Deborah must try harder’ nothing’s changed really.

Clothing and food are not supplies but a necessity plus the thought of Joy turning upon a posh do and her Ginny Wades does not bear thinking about!

Can I highjack this topic to ask if anyone else was as gobsmacked as I was yesterday, 11th of Feb and just 2 postal days before 14th Feb, Valentine’s day… To receive a ā€˜shop Valentine’s Day’ specific buy email… ?

I was shocked Joy as Valentines should have been end of last month if not before. The post is bad atm so not a cats chance of anyone buying now would get the item by Wednesday.

How is everyone getting on, have you failed or been strong?

I have been so good cannot believe it but then again non crafting, ordered new bed linen that to me is a necessity as ours are clean but ancient. They can no longer be repaired. So have spent money but on the home, which keeps DH happy.

Just ordered Ā£70’s of meds for the pampered dog, will collect next Tuesday from the vets. Also off to look at carpets next week for the bedroom, good job
Having a no buy February for supplies.

Epic Fail. Recieved a package of 2kg of 60/40 solder yesterday as down to last 2 sticks and got a few bits of glass at same time as more economical postage wise.
Also had to order some big envelopes as down to 2 and am quite nicely busy orderwise at the moment (on my other two platforms anyway ! :frowning: )

I can say hand on heart that I have bought zero supplies since the yarny stash at the beginning of the thread.
I have however splurged a bit on a couple of new snowdrop varieties, (Mr PH’s valentine gift) no choice but to buy now as they are best planted in the green. Im slowly building my collection and have a grand total of eight different varieties now

I only have one variety but I have at least 1000 in bloom at the moment. They often dig themselves out and I collect the little piles of shooting bulbs and put them under the hedge on our grass verge outside. They are now doing nicely there too (we live on a country lane).
Just had to stop to take a photo. For the first time since we moved here in 2004 I have seen a Siskin in our garden. Used to have them all the time in the Forest of Dean.
Looks as if I NEED to buy more sunflower hearts  Sorry Caroline

Lovely bird, don’t blame you for buying extra seeds! As for snowdrops, we used to have thousands too in our little woodland at our old home, but, to retire early meant downsizing and I don’t have room for thousands now so just concentrate on less but different :grinning:

Hello.

I am still working through the box of card that I started at the beginning of the month. I’ve got everything ready to cut and stick and when I’m done that’ll be 82 cards made without buying anything!

I’ll also have sheets of card, inserts and sentiments left so rather than put that all back in the box I’m going to list it on a destash group on Facebook to see if someone will take it off my hands. Failing that I’ll take it to the charity shop and that’ll be half a box cleared. Shame there’s at least another 100 boxes to go - this is why I really don’t need to buy anything!

Lovely siskin Joy. We occasionally get parakeets and the odd sparrowhawk but mostly it’s just sparrows, robins, wrens, tits and blackbirds here. They’re starting to sing much more now spring seems to be coming and it’s lovely to hear the dawn chorus.

Well done Lorraine, just goes to show if we shop our own stash we do not always need to buy.

I’m definitely going to try to keep it up for another month or two. Unless that felt pops up on Instagram again!
