I opened the drawer and couldn’t find any! I’m not jealous ![]()
so funny, if you were nearer could have given you some, lol. I have about a years worth, lol.
I’ll have to take a deep breath and have a trip to a shop!
I’m going to try the no-buy challenge this month, thanks for setting it up Caroline @Caroleecrafts. Luckily the last couple of orders I placed were actually the last day in March.
I’m sure there will be crafters still buying. We do want buyers for our destash and supplies shops (I actually have one @theoldbuttonsupplies) … Or does buying from another Folksy seller not count
- I recall we had the soft rule a few no-buy challenges back.
Interesting comments about Vntd. I have had some recent sucess de-stashing on eB*y, and you don’t pay fees now (the buyer does).
I ordered on the last day as well! On the 1st May will place more orders ![]()
Yes the soft rule applies to Folksy sellers.
Shame that was not fact checked before jumping to conclusions. We have been doing this for some time. I ordered on the 30th March and starting lists for 1st May. If looked back would have seen all light hearted. Debby @Bearlescent bears is the worse always an excuse but we love her.
I’m joining in as well, but only for silver (coz I just had a run on copper and need to order some wire ![]()
). I placed an order for silver essentials last week and I’m going to self challenge to use up all my ‘scrap’ off cuts and left over bits of silver by recycling to turn it into pretty things. Wish me luck!
I won’t mention the beads I have squirreled away, I think some of them I have had since I stated in 2010, but just couldn’t bear to part with them

I have quilting fabric from when i started in 2010 as well - a few special pieces I can’t bear to part with. If I hang on long enough, they will become vintage ![]()
I need to start a good declutter just too much and not a clue what half of it is
@charmingbeads this thread was set up quite some time ago and primarily it’s a bit of fun for sellers who are known to buy way too many craft supplies. We come on here promising we arn’t going to spend money on anything unnecessary for one month in the hope that our fellow sellers will fall by the way side before we do. In doing so we are sent to the naughty step and to be honest it’s a fun place to go because when we fail we eat cake (not literally i might add) and for someone like me that means that I will fail because sitting on the step with a friendly seller is fun. I don’t think anyone else has every taken it seriously it certainly wasn’t set up to offend anyone selling supplies and I’m actually quite shocked at your response to it and Caroline when it is suppose to be a lighthearted thread which makes a change. As for saying you will be leaving Folksy because of it as a seller of supplies I think you should perhaps look back at some of the old ones first to understand what it is about. When someone fails they are reprimanded with cake, did you honestly think it was a spite at sellers of supplies. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a bit of fun with people that we have got to know so well on Folksy…for the record I am actually trying not to buy anything for a few weeks but as I rarely manage to do it the others on here are probably waiting for me to fail.
@Caroleecrafts I popped on after a night out because I cant sleep if I have a drink and I was genuinley surprised. This has always just been a bit of fun and I know you are waiting for me to fail and eat more cake mmmm because then you will have beaten me Again and then when you fail later in the month (and you will) you won’t feel so guilty about it.
I was surprised it had been taken so seriously and I understand how you feel but don’t give it up if you enjoy it just because one person who failed to see the humour in the thread has spolit it for you, there are plenty of other sellers who enjoy popping by. It can be disheartening sometimes on here and things are often blown completely out of context or misread, I thought this thread was the one we could actually half insult each other (in the nicest way obviously) without causing any real upset.
Aw just read your reply to Sharon…cheeky bugger…I can’t be the worst…can I …really… I love you too.. but cant you see I clearly love the cake on the step more ![]()
Aww thank you Debby xx
I will continue to do the thread about every 3 months if I remember rightly. I enjoy it as fun and hilarious when the excuses start to flow, ie my chicken needed a scarf hence had to buy wool.
Perhaps we should see who can come up with the funniest reason to buy.
PS. I am going to The Packhouse in a couple of weeks I may see some vintage books or lace and linens that just fall into my basket, will keep you informed!
Not sure what I missed here but I honestly can’t see why anyone would be offended by the thread, I am not like you lot as I’m quite good at being good
but I’ve only ever taken it as a bit of lighthearted humour and let’s face it we all need some of that just now.
It’s a shame the cake and naughty step isn’t real though, I do like a bit of cake and good humour.
Made me laugh when you said you are good at being good… we will of course now remember that and be ready to pounce when you cave in. I also wish the cake was real but I really don’t need to put anymore weight on so I’m being good (for now).
@Caroleecrafts I think that’s a great idea, it will make for a chuckle when the excuses start coming in, would have never thought about chickens needing scarves ![]()
It’s alright for you as you stock up the day before it starts, a little more warning might save some falling at the first hurdle ![]()
Okay the next one will be July, will start the thread a week early.
I might be able to take part on that one, since it’s my holiday month… then again… what happens with my monthly subscription boxes? they are a necessity surely… ![]()
I think lots of new shops think the forum is run by Folksy.
So for a supplies shop to think Folksy were telling people not to shop supplies, I can see that they might take offence having just paid out in time and money to set up a supplies shop.
However to shut up shop and vanish without digging deeper is a bit knee jerk, so maybe it was just the final straw to an already disillusioned seller.
I was just wondering, as a comparative newcomer to Folksy if you live in a bungalow are you still eligible to participate here? Only I would be bound to give in to buying lovely fluffy materials etc and I don’t have any steps to eat my cake on! ![]()
You can still sit on the naughty step Moira you would be very welcome. I am seldom on there as an angel!
I’m sorry Caroline, I almost spat my tea out, did you say you were an angel? ![]()
