NO BUY SUPPLIES - challenge April 2025

I was tempted yesterday. I couldn’t find some mount board for a kit, so I naturally  popped online to buy some. Adding some lovely threads to the basket as well to make the postage worth while, even though I don’t need to stock up yet .

But I had a nagging thought that I had some boards left, so made myself completely empty and sort the craft room drawers before I was allowed to order. And yes, I had half a pack!!!

Thank you Caroline for this challenge. Yes, I’ll need to order more boards and thread at some stage, but not yet. And I have tidy drawers too

Good to see having an effect. I sorted my fabric chest of drawers, the other week, all tidy and 4 lengths sold, cannot be bad!

Well after yesterday’s fiasco unable to find some cards that went with a box, luckily made some more as part of an order. Plus took ages finding the items sold. Have decided May is going to be stock take and decluttering month for my craft. I cannot be taking an hour to find things. Need a new system and less ‘stuff’. No making for me in May just relists.

Giving myself a whole month, hoping works this time. Have a numbering system for items made in 2025 but only box numbers for everything else.

Other than the copper wire I needed to re-stock I have been good. Though I seem to be being tempted by lots of e-mails from suppliers offering me stuff on flash sales, so far I have resisted!:flexed_biceps:t2:

Does it count if your husband buys supplies for you? I mentioned I’d like some more acrylic ink a few days ago and then yesterday a big box arrived bursting with new inks. I knew nothing, honest, it wasn’t me……

My husband bought me a backdrop for photos, it was a gift I only mentioned and showed him I will get next month, 2 days later arrived. Thanking me for always being there when he is poorly and looking after him.

Why is it that you get an email from a company saying last chance many items just £1.00, reduced from £14.99 when you’re not buying! So annoying :joy::joy:

Maybe they’ve noticed that their sales are way down because we’re all doing this challenge!

:rofl: that might be it, the £10 I didn’t spend with them this month must really hit them hard especially as I haven’t brought anything from them for 2 years :joy::joy:

I have read all the comments and most are doing really well but there are one or two who like the lemon cake and cushion too much, @bornagainbears Moira, if we took the cushion away you wouldn’t be so tempted. I’m very happy to say I have not bought a thing …well actually I did order a blanket box to put wool in, but that’s a piece of furnture for my newly decorated sewing room come guest bedroom and a double bed to sit on and sew but it was done for family so I’m not counting any of that.
I’ve sorted through all my stock and what doesn’t fit in might have to go. I have tubs full in the loft including 6 large tubs of wool but I can give some of that away. I am determined to stop buying craft supplies that I don’t need..it almost feels like I am going through therapy for an addiction lol

@Bearlescent Debby please don’t take away my lovely cushion. It’s not my fault I was asked to make a baby blanket, I’m not in the habit of keeping a stock of baby pink cuddle fleece! Anyway I think you are changing the rules to suit yourself, buying a blanket box indeed and passing it off as necessary mmmh not sure about that.

No squabbles please Ladies.

Furniture allowed if helps in the decluttering process. Materials to complete an order also allowed. Buying supplies from other Folksy sellers also allowed.

Do not go out and buy things willy nilly ‘just because’ spoke to you try and shop your stash.

  ok @bornagainbears my apologies I miss read your line about it being to complete an order, that is absolutely acceptable, I just got excited that I hadn’t given in to Temptation. I will send you a bean bag to sit on to make up for it. Apologies @Caroleecrafts for the error.

I’ve just sold another 32 stamps and 3 paper packs from my stash!

I’ve still not given in to temptation, so without counting what I’ve used this month, I’m now 49 things in credit.

There are still 3 and a bit boxes of stuff to try to sell/charity shop, and when I’ve got through those I want to have another good look for things that can go but I’m starting to feel that I’m making a dent in it all.

Thanks to everyone for helping to keep me on the straight and narrow :slightly_smiling_face:

We are doing so well. I am going through stock boxes and clearing things that have been around a while, feel so much better and only sorted through 2 sections so far. When finished will be doing the supplies.

Ha ha , if I had to sit on a bean bag these days I’m not sure I’d be able to get out of it!

Well, since Monday the house has been infested with grand children. They are lovely and I don’t see them as often as I would like as they live miles away, so when they land we try to fit in all sorts of activities and they absolutely love the mouse house. The poor mice are absolutely exhausted but I have to say for little hand made creatures they managed to stay remarkably intact. Now it’s back to the baby blanket with the baby pink cuddle fleece that I had to buy for the back and if I sit in my bean bag I’ll probably just fall asleep! :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I hope the house mice and you have a good rest Moira. It’s lovely seeing grandchildren isn’t it . Mine don’t live too far away so I see them at least once a week, sometimes it’s 4 times and I really need a lay down in a dark room those weeks :joy:

I definitely need to lie down in a dark room and so do the mice! Seeing the kids once a week would be great but five adults, three kids and an ageing Lurcher with a dodgy back all together for four days twice a year is not such a good plan. But at least I do see them and I’m grateful for that.x
On the plus side I haven’t bought any unnecessary supplies!
