Not getting views

While not for me, there are a couple of other shops on here which have sold similar items. They do have a variety of other products in their shops though.

Yes i think one of them is quite popular and does sell a lot of fabric heads so think there is definitely a market for them but perhaps adding a.some lternatives as well would helpl

Thank you to everyone for their advice. It has given me a lot to think about and a few changes to make.

I think your animal heads are great! I’m someone who has actually done a search for faux animal head trophies, but it was after seeing someone selling very cute needle-felted mouse head ones at a local craft fair. They were pricey, but I regretted after the fair that I hadn’t bought one - but I never managed to find her again online! Judging by how busy her stall was, I’d say there is a place in the market for them. You just need to connect with the quirky people who like that sort of thing! Have you ever tried craft fairs?

Thank you for your response. Yes I used to do quite a few craft fairs especially in run up to Christmas . I’m finding it difficult now with a young son to commit my week ends to craft fairs .

Thanks! And yes, I can see it would be difficult to do craft fairs with a little one. I hope your shop on here starts to pick up a bit. It’s been slow going with mine as well if I’m honest (joined June last year). But then I’m not great at keeping up with the social media thing!

I own several pieces of faux taxidermy and I didn’t set out to buy any of them - they caught my eye whilst looking for something else. So my tips to you are:

  1. expand the range of animals - could you do animals to go on the wall of a kid’s bedroom for example (my first piece is a cow head, I’m currently mulling over adding a pufferfish to the collection but my OH is arguing for a dodo)
  2. get involved with things like theme of the day in the hope that Folksy might include your work on their socials (you can find up coming themes on your dashboard)
  3. if possible have some items at a lower price point
  4. expand the types of tag you have to include - at the moment they all seem to be about what the item is and not where it could be used or who it would appeal to eg man cave decor, highland decor, father’s day gift

There is definitely a market for faux taxidermy and buyers for it on Folksy so hang in there.

I’m so desperate for views, never mind views which convert to actual sales, that I have been reduced to paying Facebook for a little Ad.
As it is now 23 days since my last sale and as last February I sold 20 pieces compared to just 2 this, desperate times call for desperate measures.
I don’t know what has happened to the Folksy / Google association, quite possibly the repeating of the description as both short and full description which Google Gemini tells me is a nono… but something is severely amiss

I have just added USA back, with YT fingers crossed. I cannot complain have had 41 sales this year and 1 direct. Am finding the videos are such a help and get a different following to that on Facebook.

Must admit have been considering that. I have sold to the USA and do if anyone asks me to but as nobody is even looking at the moment… Looking here that is… my sales elsewhere are absolutely fine.

Same with me and it’s been almost 2 months.
I can see other people with similar shops that do sell alot…

I don’t know if having a plus account will help or if my pricepoints are too high…

I’ve done lots of work on my wording and photos…

No idea but it’s just not happening for me.

I even started to think my PayPal wasn’t working…

I have a long established and until quite reasonably a busy popular shop. I am showing 4396 sales.
This is new, not as a result of being a new unknown seller here.

Oh okay, sorry.

I am probably not the best person to give advise, as I have only had a couple of sales. But my advise would be to post regularly on the forum so people get to know your shop. You have been around a couple of months, and I dabble on the forum several times a day, but only came across your shop just now on this thread. My 2 sales came from other Folksy sellers directly as a result of Talk Folksy. For which I am very grateful.

Thank you.

Yes, I guess I don’t come on forums much as I’m just time limited
I’m also not sure where to go on the forums as lots of them are about what your latest sales are and well…I haven’t had any…
Thank you for the advice - I will participate a bit more.

Only one of the threads is about your latest sale - there are lots of showcase threads with different themes, you could join the daily listing and promotion group if you have new items to list, or there’s the ā€˜Promoting Folksy’ thread of Folksy Friday collages where people promote one another’s work (this takes a bit of time and effort to get into but it definitely brings engagement!), plus there are chat threads, there’s a gardening one for example… and you could start your own thread asking for advice, I’m sure people would chime in!

There are threads to showcase your items too , for example you could put your blue hat on the thread for blue items, or your pink hat for pink etc etc.
Here is a " blue " one, for example

I notice above the references to sales within Folksy. The Folksy customer base is limited to a few thousand sellers max. There are Millions of people, potential customers out there who are not on this forum, are not Folksy sellers. I would suggest you would be far better placed to spend your spare time getting yourself out to that big wide world via social media.

Thank you - great ideas.
I’ll take a look
