Hi. I’m new to Folksy and would like to introduce myself. The name is Steve and I am a self taught painter. I started in May of 2018 and am trying my hand at selling a few. At the moment I am donating 50% of ant profit I name to a local childrens charity. Please take a look at my work and tell your friends. There will be more pieces submitted shortly.
Welcome. I like your work. I used to paint in oils myself, though prefer watercolour these days.
There are a few of us artists around. We have an Art Chat Thread here on the forum, where we share our work, give and seek advice or just have a natter.
Hi Chris. Thanks for the complement. I’ve looked at some of your work, they are terrific. I’m afraid of watercolors. May try at some point.
Nice work Steve, I like your lighthouse very much. xxx
Great work for a self taught artist I will have a look at your others…take care tj
Thanks for complement it is very much appreciated.
Well done Steve for taking the plunge! Your work has a lovely ethereal quality about it so am sure you’ll do well. My dear late father was an artist - his name was Geoff Campion and he illustrated all the old british comics of the 60s, 70s and 80s. He was also self taught and had to teach himself to draw horses, which he ended up doing rather well!
Thanks have you tried using acrylics as a fastdrying background, then using oils on top,or even gouache…or mixing acrylics and gouache…there are so many combinations of techniques…also using baby oil as a clear medium for oils rather than linseed oil…good luck with your creations…tj
welcome and yes, come and join us on the art chat thread where we can help and encourage you x
Yes I have thanks. Some of the paintings I have done where originally Acrylic but I decided to try in oil.
Welcome on board Steve, best of luck.
Watercolour rocks!
Just started a painting which I am eventually hoping to sell and send the proceeds to a charity for Australia (WIRES). Would love your feedback.
its a great start…all donations are welcome at this time…
Thanks Trevor, one of my new goals for 2020 is to try to do more art for charities. Just need to finish it and then sell it
