Please can anyone tell me if it’s better to have a separate listing for each item, or to do one listing with several available.
If it’s the latter and there are slight variations between what you’ve listed, for instance pattern placement on fabric, how does the buyer indicate which they want and how do I then show that that particular one is sold?
Thanks in advance of help. I hope that makes sense !
You can use the item variation option and ask the customer to select the option they want when ordering. I prefer just to do separate listings and if you have a plus account this is probably easier as is included, gives you more exposure etc.
Thank you. That’s helpful. I’ll stick to separate listings.
I prefer separate listings too. So often the description isn’t read so separate listings make it perfectly clear what the customer is getting.
I use separate listings as still unsure how the number of items work.
That’s what’s happened. When I’ve put several items in one listing and asked in the description for people to choose which one, they haven’t. I’ve then had to contact them to ask. I think you’re right that people don’t read the descriptions.I’ve been trying to make them shorter.
Many thanks for your help.
I think I’ll try and stick to that then. I’m yet to find a quick way of changing the order of things in “shopkeeping” though. When you have a lot of separate listings, it takes ages, moving them one by one.
If you’re doing it like that you should use variations, that way people can’t check out without making a selection (you just have to remember to update the list on the variation when one sells).
The problem I have with variations is that I can’t see a way of showing the quantity available against each variation eg: 3 green and 2 blue = 5 in stock. But what happens when a customer chooses 5 blue?
I know what you mean. You end up selling things you haven’t got.
Good point and suggestion. Thanks
Having read your debate on one or many listings, I am opting for many…it’s just too difficult explaining the colours… brown bear, honey bear beige bear, cream bear, polar bear…you get my drift…so my bear hangers are going in separately, after all it’s less than 60p a year/item. If I hadn’t read your thoughts, goodness what the bears might have gotten up to!! Thank you xx
So funny interesting to know what the bears would have been doing. Running amok behind the scenes.
I feel that the variations is fine if you have loads of one item in different colours or bespoke orders. Mine tend to be one offs occasionally 2 or 3 at most. Would much prefer if you could put quantity by each colour way.
I know they are complete scoundrels!!, And don’t get me started on the bunnies!! xx
