Post Office open on sundays?!

There was a big notice in the paper today saying that some PO branches are opening on sundays.
Have any of you heard about this?
Will it help your business?

My local (small one) accepts post on Sundays and has done for about a year. It doesn’t go anywhere until the first collection on Monday though.

Yes, they announced this a couple of months ago although I didn’t realise that it had actually come to pass. They were also speaking of home delivery on Sunday too.

Just had an email through telling me my local office’s new Sunday hours. 6am - 9pm. I’m not sure if that’ll be the actual counter that’s open all that time. My local post office is in a convenience store that opens those hours. I’m guessing the counter might be open at some point on a Sunday, but the really early/late bits will be covered by the mini PO counter that they’ve set up at the convenience store’s tills. Not sure how much you can get done there. I know sending parcels and post is fine though.

It would be convenient for those that can’t get to a post office in the week. But for me, if there’s no collection, there’s no point in offering it as another posting day. I’ll just stick with Saturday mornings, and weekdays.

We have one in the next town that has opened on Sundays for years - the post isn’t collected til the next day, but it saves having to wait in the Monday queue as it’s usually quieter to take parcels on a Sunday

I think the PO counter at the shop tills is open on Sundays in my local one, since it stopped being a Thorntons and became a convenience store. The main advantage is avoiding the Monday queues, they can be quite horrendous. And handy for people who work full time too. But as has been said, the post doesn’t go any quicker.
