Really poor reach/no sales

Hi Amanda @bowerbirddesigns several of us find it difficult to get sales here, why not join in the showcasing opportunities on Talk Folksy like April Diamonds daily listing challenge and challenge yourself to list some new items to your shop during the month.

My sales have been slow too. Had an odd one or two through social media but hardly anything from folksy. Did a baby sale on Sat and although there were plenty of mums there, sales were bad, advertising was great though.

Really, better on Etsy? I feel like I get lost on there amongst the world wide sellers! Will try to promote that shop a bit more I think!

that’s a really good idea and very kind thank you Knitty Pops!

definitely not because of your product they’re lovely! I have lots of listings and it still doesn’t seem to make a difference, however I did have a good turn out and sales at the craft fair during the weekend so here’s hoping some more after that!

Thank you so much for buying the doll liz, Hope your daughter likes it! You’re never too old to have a doll.

I’ve tried everything to push my sales up , I post my folksy page all over Facebook and have it on every card I hand out… Plus when I sell in my shop I give a discount code with my loyalty card… I’m not sure what I can do extra… I changed the name on a lot of my jewellery to get more tags in, still nothing. Even Mother’s Day was a flop… I was starting to think it was because my jewellery is too alternative but it seems it’s not just me , I looked at everyone’s lovely arts and crafts who are on this post and think your work is amazing so it gives me comfort it’s not because my jewellery is rubbish xx

I have never sold much on folksy either - it looks to me that a few shops really take off and do very well, but there are so many of us that get overlooked. I use IG and FB and Pinterest most days and still no traffic. I find I sell mostly by word of mouth locally at craft fairs and use Folksy as a platform for people to view some of my items for sale. I have more to list - but it doesn’t seem worth putting them on as nobody is looking!
Not sure what the answer is really - but thanks for making me realise that it’s not just me!

I am now making a real effort to check the recently listed items once a day…I pick something I like and go to the shop and ā€˜Love it’. It has a chance of appearing on the front page for a few minutes then…I also pin it on my Folksy Pinterest board. It’s my way of doing my bit to help…if everyone did it then it might really help…

Natalie, I just bought a Love Spell necklace from you! I know it’s not enough to retire on but every little bit helps doesn’t it.

I agree, I think we should all be pinning and loving and favouriting each others items about a hundred times a day! We might all get somewhere then. I’ve been making the effort to do a little of this each day and to focus on those that don’t get many views or sales but actually have some lovely items for sale and are obviously very talented. (I 'm included myself in that!)

Aww thank you so so much , it really does help xx the love spell was made on a blood moon so it’s pretty potent x  keep me posted xx

Hi, does it really make a difference, favouriting things? Yesterday I had no views at all, it’s bad on Etsy but nothing doing here at all, yet I know there’s a market for what I make, puzzled to know how to get exposure :0(

There are 2 boxes on the front page that show recently loved items…if you ā€˜love’ an item then it has a chance of a appearing on the front page for a few minutes and being seen…every little bit of exposure helps…

There are also boxes at the top of each category page for recently favourited items - again more exposure and it all helps.

I had s pair of earrings on recently listed last night. When I renew, I don’t clog up feed, just a few each time, maybe that was why? And maybe that’s the way to go?

Natalie, I do the same as you, loyalty cards, tags in the titles, regular new items in the shop, promotions on social media etc.

A bit of good news - Just yesterday I had three sales, one from each of my three shops!!! No idea how that happened!

Kim - good idea about ā€œloveā€ other people’s products, all helps.

I am going to try to list one item per day for next week - I saw this somewhere as a suggestion in another thread so will give this a go - I normally put a couple of items in on the same day a couple of times a week, but will try one per day, see if I can be seen a bit more!
Thanks for everyone’s advice and good luck!

HI,

I’ve just come back after my shop being closed for the past 4 months due to ill health (I’m still ill but that’s another story)
I only took my shop out of holiday mode on Monday 4th and already I have got my viewing figures back up into the 60’s - 80’s. Although no sales as yet but at least my shop is getting seen. This is not to say that I have the magic answer - I don’t, but with a little effort I have got my views from nothing to quite reasonable within just a few days.

I use twitter, facebook, instagram, flickr, tumbler, pinterest and take part in the daily listing challenge on this forum where everybody taking part helps to promote everyone else’s items. I promote one item every day which takes a total of around 30-45 minutes.

Susan @dottiedesigns also runs British Crafters (BC as it’s often referred to) over on facebook which gives a great boost.
