Renewing items and what other "games" to play the system

Looking through various pages here on Folksy tonight, and I get the impression that many people bulk renew on a regular basis so that they are at the forefront of searches. I also assume that these people must be on a folksy plus accounts in order to do this.

Is there any way to get found through searches without renewing your items daily?

Also how do you get into the gift guides and the collections? Am I missing out on something, or is down to pot luck?

I know that Folksy themselves curate the gift guides and collections, so apart from making sure you meet their criteria which appears to be a lot about the photography, you can’t influence that.

I have only recently renewed, as others were doing it! But i don’t bulk do it, i do about 5 or so, as it can get really boring for a buyer who is checking out the recently listed catergory, i have a plus account. But I’m not sure if it makes a lot of difference anyway!!

renewing has no effect on where items are found in searches. it does affect which items are on the top pages for category browsing though.
