Rotating photographs

Hi there, I am having issues with my photographs uploading on their side. I guessing there are no tools in Folksy for righting this? SOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating. :weary:

No I don’t think so. If you edit your photos to add more colour etc… you should be able to rotate them there and save again, this should keep them the correct way up. I use google photos and it is free to upload any photo and edit it. Hope that helps.

Are you uploading from an iPad? I used to have this problem sometimes. Try rotating the photo on the iPad by 360 degrees and then try again - sometimes it works

No, you have to upload them the correct way as there’s no system for editing photos on Folksy.

As @OrchardFelts says, I think it can be a problem with tablets/phones, where they will take a photo and automatically show it as the correct way round (as the tablet knows which way it was being held when the photo was taken). This information will be saved in the photograph’s data, but only certain devices will be able to read this information, so you might be able to send it to your phone and it still automatically rotates, but when you upload something to the internet, it doesn’t get this information, and just shows it how it was taken… which might look like it’s suddenly rotated the wrong way.

To fix it I would try opening the photo in some photo editing software, make sure it’s showing the correct way and then save it.

No but it from an iPhone, thanks.

Thanks, my husband has just explained this to me too, our old photo editing program did not save it the correct way so I am now using a different one. At least I have figured the problem out, I was using a different computer with different software so that is why it was different all of a sudden. Thanks for your help.
