Royal Mail Postage Stamps future Change

Just read this about stamps…

  • By January 31 2023, ‘1st’ or ‘2nd’ class stamps, or any other priced stamps, with the Queen’s head on them or are Christmas-themed will not be valid for postage.*

Stamp Changes (The Express)

I know 2023 is a way off but for anyone who has old stamps they may need to check it out.

Many thanks for the info

goodness I buy mine by the hundred from the royal mail website…is it all going to be online postage, and if so, what about those who cannot do the labels etc…??

They are just replacing them with a stamp with a bar code on them. Not a problem as long as you use up any stamps you have before next January . It doesn’t say you have to buy online

Brenda, you will still be able to buy stamps over the counter etc, this is just about the stamps that have Christmas Theme on. They won’t be accepted after Jan 2023. Stamps are changing to include a barcode except commemorative ones. I have Xmas stamps from 2020 so I’ll start using them up. I hope you’re keeping well x

Christmas-themed stamps will be invalid? Why is that? Is Christmas cancelled from next year??

Barcodes on stamps??

The barcode will allow people to add a short videos message (if they wanted to) and you will be able to exchange any of the queen’s head type stamps you have for stamps with barcodes (from end of next month I think but don’t quote me on that date).

I don’t want to buy stamps over the counter Jan @HandcraftedbyPicto I need to buy them online or from Tesco with my grocery delivery. When I buy online I buy 100 at a time and if there is an expiry date, then that might be a problem for me…depending on how long the stamps are going to be valid for.
At the moment I tend to buy 4 LARGE ones every week from Tesco as I use a Large stamp to post off my paintings…That keeps my supply topped up.
I have a large stock of stamps to use up including some 10p and 1p stamps that I got from the post office to use when I was posting to the US and their levy was a weird amount, so I would add the relevant stamps needed.
I am well thank you xx

This is from the money saving expert website and details when and how you will be able to swap your current 1st and 2nd class stamps for the new ones with barcodes.

Hi all, I’m new to folksy, been on E*** for a few years, on E*** I just click on an icon and it prints a postage label and takes the amount from my account, can I do the same on folksy? It will be a pain to have to go on to royal mail’s site to get postage, we don’t have a post office (and they are more expensive anyway)
Thanks sue

@WestmorlandSoaperie No unfortunately folksy doesn’t integrate with Click and Drop so you’ll need to go Royal Mail’s site to buy postage. Folksy doesn’t hold your money in the same way Etsy does - your funds will either be in your paypal or stripe account - so they can’t deduct things like postage costs from sales revenue.

Thank you for the information Sasha.
