Royal mail price rise Oct 2023

I would personally rather pay for 1st class than signed for 2nd class. Out of personal experience that is, since whatever I had posted to me as 2nd class the last year or so, it has been either lost, or come really late even though they were ordered well ahead of time. Depending on the value, I would be ok with the tracked 48, which is what a lot of of my parcels come with nowadays, and it’s been a lot more trustworthy.

Thanks @SashaGarrett
I will change my postage to tracked 48, which doesn’t require a signature. Customer is notified when post will arrive!

Hi Sasha, sorry if I have missed you explaining this but you mentioned postage upgrade of say £5, where do you put this amount ? Do you have to create a seperate listing for it. It is something I want to do in my shop, i want to give customers the option to buy next day special delivery but if i make a seperate listing for it they will be charged postage costs twice.
I do send a lot of my high end bears by special delivery which is £9.45 but currently i pay the extra and customers pay 4.80 as I need the insurance cover for them.

You can either add a price variation to the listing for the difference between the 2 postage rates (but you would end up paying folksy commission on it) or set up a listing for postage upgrade. If you set up a listing for a postage upgrade you can either set the item price for the difference between normal shipping and special delivery (which would be subject to folksy fees) or you set a nominal price for the listing (I think the smallest you can have is 20p) and set the shipping cost for the difference between standard and special delivery (which would be £5). If you set the listing price as the upgrade postage cost then you would put 0 in the postage cost box but leave the additional items box empty so that they are charged the base shipping charge on the bear listing.
The issue with having it as a separate listing is making sure that customers see the listing - possibly easier in your shop as you only have one page of items compared to larger shops.

Thank you very much Sasha, I did wonder whether I would need a seperate listing, at the moment I just have a note in my shop announcement asking them to message if they want to upgrade so I could easily amend that to say their is a seperate listing. The variation option is more work for us sellers but definately a better and easier option for customers.

Maybe this is something I could suggest Folksy look into on that little box that keeps popping up in our shops, it would be good if we could add various shipping options to the postage rates on our listings.
