I am trying to promote my shop and I have spent the last hour playing with Pintrest but I have no clue what I am doing. I feel like giving up on social media. I would appreciate any comments on my shop, am I chasing a losing dream?
I would appreciate any help that anyone is willing to give me. Do my products look poor? Will I ever have my first sale? I am sure some of you may of been in the same boat as me.
I use Mac’s and Pinterest is automatically shown on the action box, so easy to add a pin as I post a new item.
Also the same for Instagram. That in turn connects to Facebook and Twitter so posts at the same time.
Videos do well on Instagram the last one I posted got over 1k hits. No talking, not mastered that yet but getting there, just the product on a turntable.
Yes, I’ll suggest the same, your photos need a little work. At the moment I can’t see what the item is, the customer needs to see the whole thing. And also, better photos means you have more chance of being picked up by other sellers for Folksy Friday boards and things like that.
I have the same issue’s with Pinterest, no idea what I’m doin tried several times and gave up. Same with Tik Tok, need 10 year old to sort that for me I think. As for sales, persevere, it will come imsure.
@DesiredDream I agree with the above, I can’t see the whole of your items. I wish you luck with your sales The main sites I uses for promotions are Facebook and Instagram. I have just recently joined Tiktok but I’m still getting used to it. I tired Pinterest but I couldn’t really get my head around it. xx
Definitely have another look at your photos - Folksy crops the images shown in search results and on our shop fronts to square so most of yours are having bits chopped off. If you can set up a more neutral back ground to photograph items against that would also be good.
The ‘buying from me’ section can be found on the ‘shop appearance’ tab (left hand side of the dashboard under shop settings).
There is a section on the folksy blog that is dedicated to product photography - here’s the link
In addition to other comments, I would say you need to finish your shop from on here, a logo image and a banner so you don’t look like a spammer.
Don’t be discouraged about your first sale though, it can take ages and it has been a bad year for everyone.
I have listed a couple of items today, tried to work on the photos for these two listings. I also noticed I had the opportunity to pin them to pinterest, a platform I know nothing about. Could anyone tell me what # I should be using and anything else that I should know.
If you want more help with Pinterest I would recommend a free course by The Social Giraffe (not sure when their next one is but keep an eye on their website). I’ve done it twice now and it’s so helpful and makes it a lot easier to use Pinterest. Here’s the link for their website if you’re interested (might have to scroll down a way to see the free course bit):
I have a light box like the one on this link, husband bought it for me one Christmas, definitely the best present ever! I use a camera so I don’t know about mobile phones, I don’t even have one.
Those light boxes can be used with mobile phones but I would figure out how you are going to style your product shots first so you know how big the light box needs to be to fit your item + styling props in it.
(I make do with several pieces of white card on the coffee table in front of a south facing window rather than a light box, I found it such a fiddle organising my items in it)
