Stationery sales

Hello . Now sorry for saying rude words , but I also list on Etsy .I listed a lettrhead as a download and got a sle very quickly. To those who sell stationery how do you find it sending packs out to users ? I see that you may get return business but also see the postage costs inflating prices to where they get fewer takers.
My sale was of a downloaded item and that’s a lot easier (no postage , user buys once but uses many times so value is high) . Why do you think Folksy avoids online sales ? Would it be against the platform spirit to send an email copy of the stationery to the user ?
I cant see how I can make sttionery work for me on Folksy as it is but really love the community.

Hi! I’m not a stationery seller myself, but I believe people do sell downloads on Folksy - things like knitting patterns for example. So there is the option there if that’s what you mean? Sorry if I’ve missed your point there - I’m sure some people who sell stationery will be along!

Thanks - I was unsure as there us no option to sell downloads as there is with Etsy

Ahh I see. It’s not a separate category, but if you have a look in the supplies section under patterns / tutorials you’ll see some people have listings for a PDF download - it looks as if they just email the attachment after payment is received. Hope that helps!

One of the reason Folksy avoids people selling downloads is the VAT situation - Folksy would have to charge VAT on the item and then remit it to the appropriate people which is a lot of extra paperwork for a small company. A quick search for pdf gives over 800 results - mostly patterns - so people are selling digital files which they email after purchase (thus getting round the VAT thing) and I see no reason why this couldn’t include stationary.

You can sell digital items, they just can’t be uploaded to Folksy so you have to email them to the buyer yourself.

As @SashaGarrett says, having downloads automatically downloadable from Folksy isn’t available because it makes VAT a lot more complicated. VAT MOSS guide for Folksy sellers | Folksy Blog
