How are peoples sales doing? Mine are non existant despite advertising again on social media etc. Im giving up hope, and will be coming off folksy after christmas cause its become clear that my products are just not sellable unfortunately
Personally, I wouldnāt visit your shop if I was going by the name because it triggers āelectronicsā to me and so Iād bypass it. Not sure if that might be a factor here. Your bags are lovely, but your shop name doesnāt seem to reflect what youāre selling.
I agree he name to me means a card machine not bags, suggest changing the name, promote on social media etc may help.
Thank you for the honest feedback, going to go back to the drqing board and get rethink the name, I agree beeds a softer to the point of what I do x
I so agree about the name @ChipnPinCrafts - I expected to see a woodworking shop when I visited your site! Your work is very nice so it would be a shame to give it all up - I would definitely try a real re-evaluation of your shop and social media before you take any decisions. Iāve been trying to ābreak throughā for ages and just recently there are real signs that sales are picking up (because I have learnt more about social media etc.) but it has taken a very long time. Hope this helps.
It looks like youāve sold 2 items. Congratulations!
Hi. Your items are saleable but I agree about the name - I would suggest giving it another go with a new name that reflects your lovely things.Times have been tough for a lot of us recently regarding sales.
@Fififoxi - Iād love to hear some of the tips youāve learned. Everyone advised me to go on Instagram but it hasnāt made any difference (I know Iām probably not using it correctly, but I kind of gave up on it when the time spent wasnāt reaping benefits). Your insight would be much appreciated!
Unfortunately nothing since, one was purchswd by my friend and the other a fellow folksyā¦would be great to have a few more sales since then.
Also, donāt forget to fil in your about me section, which will show up at the end of your page. You can add an extra image to this, which can be anything that reflects you and your work. I think people shopping on Folksy like the personal stories of the makers and designers they buy from. Good luck, and your bags are great!
A name change sounds like it might be a good idea (I agree that I can never remember what you sell from the name).
Donāt forget about your descriptions/descriptive tags either. I can see youāve got some items that are fully described and have lots of tags, but you also have some items like the pencil cases and smaller cases that are still missing information like the size. Particularly for the small ones I think itās useful as people might want to check if they can fit a certain thing in. Some could also do with a few extra tags to help them get found, such as your lavender sachets donāt have any tags that include āscentedā, and Iād also add in ālavender bagā as that seems to be a very common term. Your coin purse that youāve photographed as somewhere to keep your headphones doesnāt have the tag āheadphone caseā. Your triangle cases donāt have any tags about use, such as ācoin purseā, āpyramid pouchā, āzip purseā, āsmall storage caseā, ālipstick caseāā¦
Itād be a shame to see you leave because your items look good. Just because theyāre not selling right now please donāt think that that means theyāre not sellable at all. Itās been a tough year, but hopefully with Christmas coming and a few tweaks to help make them easier to find, you might get a few more.
Thank you @ChipnPinCrafts for your post. Also thank you to all the responders to the post regarding the shop name. I too have had very little sales in 4 years and have taken this issue on board. I have now included āOil Paintingsā in my shop title to see if this helps
PS. @ChipnPinCrafts you have some very nice work.
Sorry to hear about the low sales, i have just started so no sales yet. Have given some of your items some love.
Iām afraid Iāve no real āmagic bulletā or clever tips - it really is a case of head down and keep going. I find I am very slow to learn things but if you do them enough times it becomes easier and stuff falls into place. For what itās worth I always think its important to get your shop looking good - polish your photos and descriptions so it all looks inviting and attractive & I try to follow a lot of good advice from Folksy and āonlineā re taking photos and writing descriptions etc - it really helps to look at other peoples shops to see how they present their items. For photography I use a Fositan light box and an i phone and that makes it easier to take reasonable pics. I also try to use all the opportunities the Folksy shop site offers by filling in things like tags, materials and colours and I update things like inspiration and shop announcements too. I am just beginning to understand how important relisting and refreshing your listings can be so I am now trying to get into a daily routine of relisting and tweeking items to keep it all fresh. Iām also trying to use social media more - I find social media difficult but it seems to be most important. I know understanding SEO and regular posting on social media helps drive traffic to your listings which is key to sales. Iām on Facebook and Pinterest which I am beginning to use more often and Iām just about to get more proactive on Instagram but Iām still not comfortable āself promotingā it just doesnāt feel natural to announce āhere I am and look what Iāve been up too!ā but I think thatās what you have to do. After quite a few years I sort of know what Iām doing but I have to be honest and say Iāve loads more to learn, I am still a very small seller. I donāt spend anything on additional or supplementary marketing and Iām very cautious about buying expensive equipment until Iām sure I will get real use out of it. Building up sales takes time, knowledge and hard work and I donāt believe in buying in services that promise to drive people to your site etc. I think itās important to enjoy what you are doing - keeping it fun and enjoying the creating side but Iām also realistic about the selling side too. It can be fun and satisfying to build a nice shop but there will be many times when sales will be hard to come by so just be patient. What I like so much about Folksy is you can count on fellow makers to to understand, help and encourage you when you need it. Well Iām afraid Iāve no real tips to share but I hope my thoughts and ramblings might help.
Thank you for sharing. There are some useful things to ponder.
You have some lovely items so it would be a shame to give up, there are shops selling similar items on Folksy who do very well so stick with it, it can take a while to become established on here.
I looked at a couple of your listings and the descriptions could do with more detail, i would include washing instructions especially on the cushions, are they machine washable, handwash etc.
I do agree with everyone else about your shop name, it doesnāt seem relevant to the crafts you sell.
Your photographs look good, I think you just need to work on the descriptions and fill in the about section, I have had a few customers mention things I have written in my about section so there are people who like to read it and get to know you a little. Good luck Iām sure it will pick up soon.
@Fififoxi you could have written that for me, apart from the light box which I donāt have, you have summed up much more eloquently than I could have done though.
I havent sold anything either ā¦just wondering what im doing wrong .
Hi there everyone, thank you so much for the feedback it has been well recieved, a question though how do I change my username? I am now going as The sewing Shack but im still recognised as chipnpin, the shop has been renamed but im not sure how to get the chipnpin changed? Any suggestions? Thank you very kindly xx
Just had a quick look at your shop and your items are really lovely. I think maybe it is a question of just filling in more information in your listings and padding your description out things like āthis little hare would make a lovely gift or stocking fillerā etc. A nice welcoming shop announcement is always good and use all your tags - colours & materials etc. I find it best to list items from my computer rather than from my phone. After all that you need some exposure on social media - Facebook, Pinterest etc. and online selling groups. It does take ages to get sales at the moment so it may just be a case of being patient and as proactive as possible. Good luck.
Contact Folksy support and they will change your shop name for you.
