Subscription vs per listing

Hi! I’d like to get some other sellers insight on having a folksy subscription instead of paying per listing. How much do you reckon you’d have to sell for it to be worth it? I haven’t sold much so far, but I do want to put more listings up. Would the subscription include VAT as well? As the 15p charge never includes VAT so I never quite know exactly what I’m charged after listing. Any sort of advice on this would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Frances

Individual listings come out at 18p each including VAT. A subscription @£7.50 per month is £90 per annum. That is equivelent to 500 individual listings. If you never sold anything and relisted each item 3 times a year, that means you could have 166.66666 ( let’s call it 166) items in your shop for the same price for the year.

I believe there is a yearly subscription rate, so you’d need to redo the sums to compare that.

There is also the fact that those with subscription benefit from various other perks including reduced commision in some cases.

Hope that helps!

Just checked - yearly is £75. That is the equivelent of 416 individual listings, which at 3 per item per year would be 138 items in your shop for the year for the same price.

Sorry, me again. If you look on your dashboard you will probably have a banner half way down inviting you to upgrade. If you click on “learn more” and then “explore prices” there is a helpful comparison as to what you get for basic pay as you go and what you get if you pay for Folksy plus.

Not just price you can load extra images, relist as often as you like for no cost. I have over 500 items in my shop so a no brainer. It would cost me £90 to relist all every 4 months. I pay monthly okay works out more over the year but felt after paying annually was not right for me, would rather not be tied to a long subscription.

It is a no brainer for me.
I pay per year…pay it and forget it.
Some people pay that kind of money for a magazine subscription or even a cup of coffee per week.
I have over 500 items in my shop and renew them as often as I like. When I was on the dark side it was costing me a fortune in renewal fees ( and having to remember to do them). I can also move my listings around whenever I like and that has definitely brought in more sales…it keeps my shop looking fresh.
It really all depends on how many items you have or want to list but I prefer to pay it and get on with it…simple really. x

I have Folksy plus, I only have 1.5 pages of listings so I don’t need it, on average I list one item per week, my main reason for having it is I like the extra photo’s that Caroline mentioned also I can relist whenever I like. A lot of my listings don’t need the extra images now but I do have a couple that needs them for showing variations. MIne’s up for renewal and I’m considering paying it monthly instead of annually however you do save £15 per year if paying annually.

thanks for this! I will have a good think

Ah yes that makes sense!

Thanks Brenda, I do like the idea of being able to move around my listings, and not having to relist- maybe ill consider this for the new year once i have new items prepped x

Thanks Debby! I’ll have a. think, but I’m more swayed towards the monthly option, I’ll think i’ll give it a try for a few month next year

Yes a monthly subscription is a good idea, I’m debating whether to switch to monthly payment of plus account, it’s a chunk to find at this time of year especially as there havn’t been as many sales.

I pay annually and I think it’s worth it even though my sales this year haven’t covered the cost when you take the other fees into account. I can list and relist as much as I want whereas if I was paying per listing I might think twice about listing lower priced items such as cards.

I pay annually (I never do direct debit for anything unless I’m forced to - I like to be in control!) I have approx 230 items so I renew when I want: I renew when the Theme of the Day is something I can join in with: more photos can be added; can join in with any special events that folksy run. It all adds to your general marketing. I still don’t sell that much but at least I feel I’m being pro-active and giving myself every chance.

Yes, I’m thinking it will motivate me to be more active with folksy, as everytime i go to list something, I have doubts, whereas having this freedom may just allow me to go 100% and just see what happens!

A minor consideration when thinking about the plus account is that you get discounts with select suppliers - wool warehouse and Fred Aldous might be of use.

I didn’t know about that - how does it work?

If you go onto the plus account page on your dashboard, there is a tab (offers) which lists which suppliers and what the discount is (and a button to reveal the code you need to put in the appropriate place on the supplier website).

Sasha…where does it say offers?..I looked and can’t find it and I use Wool warehouse…could be useful xx…no worries…I found it …thanks xx

Brenda @teabreaks I use Woolwarehouse and I use the code JHOOK10 to get 10% off my order, but it only works on items that are not already discounted. I’ve been using this code for ages so it should still work x
