I submitted three items for the Summer Exhibition and they didn’t make the grade but I had an email to say that they would be in the Summer Selling Show. I assumed they all would be but I just clicked the link on the front page and found just one of them.

I was surprised that the Summer Selling Show was just four pages. When I got to the bottom of the last page it felt like a dead end and it would have been nice to have a button to click to then browse more of the seller’s items that made it into this Show.

Also, as I clicked, I thought that calling it the Summer SELLING Show wouldn’t have felt appealing to me as a buyer as I don’t want to feel like I’m being sold to!

@pipdesigns RE …it would have been nice to have a button to click to then browse more of the seller’s items that made it into this Show.

If you click on an item it will take you directly to the shop’s page, where you can browse/buy any of their other items.

Everybody it seems I need to give you all a massive apology. I am so sorry if anybody took my very brief comment in the wrong way. I would never ever ever even think to criticise any of your wonderful art / craft / work.
I was totally jesting. I was also on holiday …oh and by the way I also now know that unbeknowingly I had / have Covid if you need an excuse for my cottonwoool head.
So please accept my apologies to anyone who has felt I offended them.
Sorry

I am sure your apology is accepted and hope you feel better soon. Know you mentioned to me about being under the weather the other day. So many of my friends have gone down with the lurgy, despite being fully vaccinated.

Thank you . I’ve had such a wonderful trip but we wondered why we were both so exhausted.

It is draining, am convinced I had it a few weeks back . Also addles your brain. Hard to understand what it does to one’s body unless expierenced it.

I can see what you mean. I don’t get the impression that Folksy actually see it as ā€˜less’ that the exhibition though, and the quality of the work is very high in both. Maybe if they dropped the ā€˜little’ next time, and just called it the sister show to the exhibition? Both equally fantastic, just different

Thanks Camilla for explaining and then sorting out the magical missing button, and I hope Doug benefitted from the waves of get well messages which headed his way.
Now the buttons are up and working I hope people no longer feel 2nd rate in the Selling show. I have 2 things in it, I don’t feel that it is inferior, but it is different.
There is no escaping that there is often a differentiation between designer/makers and fine artists, whether you like it, agree with it, or not. The items I sell on Folksy are products and so fit into a selling exhibition and not into a fine art category and I am pleased with the overall look and design of both shows. I hope all of us artists, designers, craftspeople and makers who were lucky enough to be chosen for the shows benefit from some extra exposure have a good selling few days! Good luck x

Hi @islamaymakes @MyosotisJewellery - we’ve changed the description of the Summer Selling Show on the page to:

ā€œThe Summer Selling Show is an extension of the Folksy Summer Exhibition, featuring artwork, jewellery and decorative pieces made to make your life a little more beautiful.ā€

Does that work?

Can I just ask, without getting my head bitten off. Why have 2 shows, why not just 1. Sellers submit max 3 items if they wish to participate. Perhaps the items entered should be voted for by Folksy sellers and only 1 item goes through.

That way it is all inclusive and not second best. One of the reasons I did not apply this year, having been relegated to the 2nd division the last time I joined in. Felt the secondary show did not have the same impetus as the main one. A bit like doing a fair but find you are in a back room with no signs.

Plus from a customers point of view easier if one section.
