Tell me about Twitter

I love twitter and am waiting for a purchase I made via twitter to arrive as we speak!

I don’t follow loads of random people for the sake of building up a large amount of followers as I like my news feed to be relevant to me.

I have definitely had more views through using twitter.

From a buyer’s perspective, I prefer to see a mix of posts rather than a continuous ''look I’ve posted a new photo/product to Facebook sort of account.
These accountsI tend to ‘‘unfollow’’ very quickly.

I have had a twitter account for a while now but only recently decided to give it a proper go. I have completely given up on Facebook. I post my item’s on twitter and i cant say i get sales from it but my views certainly go up. I also use Instagram daily.

I am finding I get more retweets on twitter than I do shares on Facebook, and also I agree that conversation helps rather than just random tweets…although random is my speciality ha ha x

I’ve just decide to give this a go @heidimeier6.

I’m in a quandary at the moment though, thinking about the spam versus conversation element.

I’ve been messing around with a few different types of posts, more to do with learning about how to do stuff, and definitely want to focus on the conversational element as reading the concerns about spam posts, I don’t want to put people off by posting too many ad type things.

But if someone follows me for the business side, surely that means they would want to see new designs etc. Is it a case of not posting loads all at once, that’s more important, so would new designs or special offers be okay as long as there were gaps between postings??

It’s the other way round with me sales wise. I’ve had more on Facebook than ever on twitter so I seem to be always promoting on Facebook.

I think it’s all about a mix of postings ie direct this is my latest design now available or this would make a perfect gift etc etc

along with talking about what you are making, what your are doing, asking questions to get a dialogue and doing it like a drip feedfed, rather than a raging river of millions of posts on one day.

Spread them out seems to be the way to go and mixing the type of post up.

Yes - that seems a logical way. I’ve made myself a checklist of different types of posts and then will try to alternate between sale, chat and other stuff. Fingers crossed it will work. I had a bit of time free on Friday and quite enjoyed myself. Monday should be good again time wise!

I reluntantly set up a twitter account a few months ago after being nagged by friends who raved about how wonderful it is. Unfortunately I don’t share their enthusiasm. Maybe I don’t use it enough to get the full benefit. The tweets about local news and what’s on in my area are quite useful but a lot of the other advertising stuff & promotion just passes me by, especially if I have to click on a link to go and view it. So although I’ve never actually bought anything via Twitter I have had an order. I get a lot of orders and commissions through FB though so personally I prefer that but I’ve been using it a lot longer so it’s more familiar.
