Hi everyone, I’ve just started my Folksy shop. If anybody has any tips or advice for me, I’d really appreciate it.
welcome to Folksy…it is a lovely place to be.
I took a look in your shop and am not quite sure what you are selling…would anyone want to pay to have their photos enhanced?..I don’t really understand that, unless they have a photo that needs making brighter etc.
The pdf patterns might be popular. Try to put as many items in your shop as you can to make it more interesting…

Good luck with sales x
Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it.
Hi and welcome to folksy - it’s a lovely place to be. The Folksy online guides are great and there’s loads of help (if needed) at ‘talk folksy’ from other sellers. If there’s one bit of advice for all new sellers it’s be patient and realistic about getting sales (sales are always difficult to make especially when economic times are tough) in the early days take time to build your shop, develop products, social media presence etc. I also think it is important to make sure you enjoy what you are doing and give yourself a pat on the back for opening an online shop. Good luck.
Thankyou for the warm welcome and advice.
Hi Sarah
I’m confused too about what you are offering here. Which is the main product, the pattern or the editing? It may be better in the long run to have a separate shop for each. Are you planning on selling finished products or just patterns? I’m sure as you add more listings this will become clearer. Your shop is pretty and inviting and I do love the fruity bags! Do you allow people to sell what they make from your patterns?
I’m a relatively newbie, trying to find my niche, making mistakes and learning as I go along. I love how friendly and helpful it is here though. Good luck and have fun!
Thank you for your help Louise, I’m really struggling to set up my shop.
I’ve just tweaked a few bits to hopefully make it better. I currently have 2 categories:
1: PDF sewing patterns (yes you can sell your finished makes, but my pattern is copyright protected; no copying, selling, redistributing the pattern).
2. Design services: Photo editing, banner design, logo design etc. (For your shop).
I’ll add some more items and maybe it will be better.
I look forward to seeing more of your patterns
Thank you
I’m new on Folksy too. Hoping to learn from everyone
Hi, I’m still learning how Folksy works and gradually adding to my shop. There are lots of wonderful, helpful peeps in the forums and it’s a great place to learn stuff. Best of luck to you
