Using masking fluid?

Ok… so I’m new to watercolours and I’ve been playing around with masking fluid, to stop the colours bleeding into other when I don’t want them to. However, when I try to get it of (lifting up the edge and gently rubbing or peeling it off) it is damaging the paper underneath. I can’t work ut if it’s because of the quality of the paper, the quality of the masking fluid, or if it’s because I am putting it on too thickly or too thinly. Any advice?

I wonder what brand you are using, I have used several brands and never had a problem removing it…just gently rubbing usually removed it. What watercolour paper are you using…I usually use 300 gsm paper with some texture. x

Probably the paper. I tend to use a heavyweight paper like Brenda. Also make sure the paint and paper are really dry before trying to remove it.
Good luck because its a really useful tool.
