How about things to include in Christmas Eve boxes? They seem to be growing in popularity.
Gifts for wine lovers
Gifts for sewers
Gifts for Illustrators
What about Luxury Knits ?
Artist Bears…collectables
Collectable Dolls
I would really like a section where my decorative boxes could go- I’m sure there are other people who sell boxes too and you can never have too many boxes. Great Christmas gifts. Can’t think of an alliterative title though … Gifts for People who keep Stuff in Boxes?
Gift boxes might cover it, I buy boxes for my pincushion gift set.
Handmade gift boxes
Gift packaging ?
Decorative boxes
My boxes, hopefully, ARE the gifts rather than the things the gifts are packed in I sell some for wedding rings and for keeping tiny things in, or just as ornaments I would hope Folksy would put at least one of mine in such a category…
Oh sorry I hadn’t realised.
Decorative Gift Boxes would be a good choice
I will pop over and have a look at them.
I thought Folksy were doing some more gift categories but I havn’t seen them yet, i’m hoping to have some items picked for some of the guides and have added my embroidered gift sets to the suggestions on the forums but nothing has been chosen from them. Some of the guides have multiple listings from one seller, I do think it would be better to have items from different sellers in them there are sooo many things to choose from there must be enough to give more sellers a chance at being showcased. Anyway fingers crossed for your boxes and I will pop over and have a look later.

@coatimundi, could some be classed as trinket boxes for the jewellry etc.

Thanks, Debby! I know what you mean about the Gift Guides- I am so seldom included, but some sellers seem to be everywhere. I’m not complaining (or am I?) . Perhaps my photos aren’t good enough, but I think most of them are pretty good now… I love your bears and dolls
Thank you Christine, I suppose there are thousands of us on here to choose from but we have to keep trying, then let out a huge squeal of delight if one gets picked . I did have a gift set added a few months ago, I sold it so not sure if there are any now but when Stephen hosted Folksy a few weeks back he added one of my bears to the favourites which was nice.
I am finding it difficult to photograph in this dark dreary weather even my conservatory was dull today and I try not to change the colour, brightness where possible as it seems to distort the picture slightly…or is that just my eyes lol.

Hi Debby. Have you had a look through your Shop Activity? It shows who has favourited your items and shop but also any items that have been added to gift guides in the last 30 days. Here’s the link https://folksy.com/profile/events/expanded I’m pretty sure you’re in the Gifts for Mum one and the Gifts for Sewers one too?
But we will be making lots more guides and adding lots more items, and trying to include as many different sellers and items as possible within them. It’s a huge job and I’m working my way through them at the moment. I will go through all the items suggested in the forum for each guide and try to add as many as I can. It does really depend on product photography and how relevant it is to the guide though - and there will also be quite a few occasions when they have more than one item from a particular seller or sellers in these Christmas guides as we’re filling them up so that if something sells, there are still lots of other options, as it takes time to add things and replace things.
Hi Camilla, super excited now as I see you have added some of my items to the gift guides just now, thank you very much and yes I just looked back, 28 days ago I had a pincushion in the gifts for mum, I knew i had a gift set but it sold, not that I’m complaining at the sale mind you…perhaps it had been found in the gift guide!
On the subject of photography…at this time of year it is obviously much harder with the lack of light, if I alter the brightness etc it does seem to take the clarity away from the pics on the detailed embroidery items therefore am I a better having a slightly dull appearance but which shows the embroidery stitches clearer or a brighter shot but which may slightly distort the embroidery.
Photography is not my thing and I do tend to take about 30 pics each time and spend an hour cropping, deleting etc only to upload them and find they don’t fit the square and get the white boards back out then start over, I know I’m not the only one though, I am much better at sewing than taking pictures
I understand now why you have more than one item from a particular seller, I hadn’t thought about unavailability if items sold, I am pleased to hear they are filling up and being updated I will have a look through them again.
Thank you for adding the items, my photography must be improving!

@coatimundi, hi Christine, I had a look and remember the boxes you mean now, beautiful wooden with the pewter lids.
Would a category for storage work? obviously decorative boxes, trinkets, jewellry boxes, keepsake boxes perhaps, heirloom gifts
The last step I always do when I’m editing my photos is to sharpen them, because after resizing and everything else they do lose a little bit of clarity, but that always sorts it out.
Photo editing shouldn’t distort the pictures but enhance them, so it’s clearer to see all the details and sorts out any colour issues (there are a couple of colours my camera just refuses to get right). If they’re starting to look distorted it might be that you’re changing the value too much in one go. When I’m editing photos I always do it in tiny steps to avoid overdoing it and looking too unnatural (and I always up the contrast half the amount I’ve upped the brightness, to stop it looking washed out).
Thank you Kim @konyskiw …I find if I alter the brightness or contrast on close up pics of the embroidery it seems to take the sharpness off the stitches, although I do need new glasses lol perhaps that’s the problem.
I work on a tablet and take the photos on there and if possible try to use them as they are, (light wise) but it is difficult some days. I do tend to crop a lot of pics so they are closer and fill the box so perhaps that doesn’t help and maybe distorts them slightly. On the photos I did today of a new pincushion I actually preferred the slightly duller, natural photo’s so I only lightened the first couple of pics very slightly. I’m not a natural at photography and must admit I rarely change the brightness as that does seem to flatten the image somehow and have to be very careful with the contrast, perhaps altering the 2 together as you have suggested may help though. Thanks for your help again Kim !
I’m going to try to come up with a Gift Guide especially for you Christine. How about something like “Arts and crafts movement gifts”
That’s very sweet of you ,Camilla
