Was that it ? Christmas 2016

I take it back - my work appears to appeal to last minute online shoppers. Just as well my local post office counter is tucked away in a corner shop so not striking.

For all those last minute shoppers out there

October was brilliant for me, November was sluggish, the first 2 weeks of December were good, and then from the 10th/11th Dec to now , it’s really and I mean really slowed down. December is normally my busiest month, selling every day until the last posting date, I’m hoping for a mad rush before my last order day of Tuesday… I count on the last 3 months of the year as my items are seasonal for autumn/winter.

This is the 2nd Christmas where I haven’t sold anything, (both since I gave up the plus account).

Still I did buy plenty of gifts on here, there is much more choice now than there once was

Well despite doing better than ever at craft fairs this year, I haven’t had a sale on Folksy since July and that was to a previous craft fair customer! And I’ve a plus account and I did a Friday feature and I network on the Folksy facebook page - what else am I supposed to do???

Ooh you could be right about the postal strike-Now I think about it things got a lot less busy on here after that views wise, but my FB page is still going strong.

I think it is the postal strike (hoping it’s not because people don’t like my knitwear!) It’s been my quietest, slowest last 2 weeks of December since I opened my shop! Was hoping for a last minute rush, alas I don’t think that’s going to happen now…

Your shop and items are lovely Natalie, @MoreTeaVicarKnitwear it’s certainly not that. I have had a much quieter December than previous years and It seems a lot of other sellers have too when you read the forum.

I’m not sure that the postal strike would have had much of an impact as it is a post office strike rather than a Royal Mail strike.
Postal deliveries aren’t affected, and only the larger post offices will be closed, but for a very very short time.
Smaller post offices are open as normal and postmen aren’t on strike.

I have noticed absolutely no difference in either receiving purchases or sending items out, either in time or convenience.

I’d put it down to just a quiet Christmas period in general, although I’ve sold consistently, both here and on other sites, but busier on other platforms.

I think I’ve got everyone’s last minute orders to make up for the distinct lack of early or on time orders. Thankfully my little post office counter (at the back of a shop) is running fine.

I’m still quite busy with orders. Think they are stocking filler, a little extra something sort of presents but all welcome. Bob’s just on his way to the local post office with 5.
I never say I have a last post deadline.
If the order comes in I post it. I post it first class. I know Royal Mail always do their best.
I posted one out 22nd last year and 21st year before and they got there.

Yep, mine too - five today, two extremely late international

Hmm I wonder if it’s because I’ve put a deadline in my announcement? I’m away from the 22nd Dec, so wanted to put a cut off.

Congratulations on your sales!

I don’t normally sell loads in October, but I was selling every day, maybe people were buying their knitwear early this year as it got cold all of a sudden!

Xx

Thank you lovely Dawn xxx

Maybe the message has got through that the Post isn’t entirely on strike, as the last 2 days have been busy again.

well I don’t close over Xmas so I have no last date !

I do have one to pop in post plus I have a parcel to post off to our local Blue Cross - 3 handmade coats that my ā€˜once skinny but now not’ hound has grown out of and a couple of toys . I gather they currently have another lurcher in so these coats should fit nicely !

This is one of the coats I am sending - he has put on 4 much needed kilos since this!

I have had a little flurry (3 sales) this weekend, but this is definitely my quietest Christmas on Folksy in the 4 years I have been here. I was hoping to get to 300 sales by Christmas, but don’t think that is going to happen now. I did get some really lovely feedback for a recent needle case sale today, so that does make it all worthwhile.
I have been really busy on the other side with my vintage items, so I can’t really complain!

The whole year him been quiet for me! Not just on here, but out n about at events too.!

My first sale ever! Waited for a long time, but now its happened :-). Hope the ā€˜trend’ continues. Hope everybody had a fab Christmas!
