So quiet this year

Hi is it just me or are sales a bit dire this year? I’ve had a few custom orders but hardly anything from my shop :woman_shrugging: Is anyone else experiencing this?

The beginning of the year was brilliant and March was my best month ever in terms of revenue on here. From the beginning of April though it’s been as if my shop has disappeared! I haven’t had such a bad couple of months in years

I was beginning to wonder if my shop had closed without me realising :woman_shrugging: We better just keep plodding on I suppose and hope it picks up a bit x

Very quiet for me as well. Did think with the shops opening and people being starved of the high street are spending there instead of online. Have done well with custom orders on FB but here for general sales very quiet.

I went quiet when the shops began to open up which was to be expected. I am spending time gearing up for the winter sales as I have a feeling people will be buying online again.

I agree they will come back as will not want to be in crowds building up to the big day.

I hate shops and shopping apart from the village indies or garden centres. Groceries and more online and John Lewis always takes a battering at Christmas for me as have relatives that do not appreciate handmade so not wasting my time, lol. They just get vouchers then can get something worth the money!

Yes, it’s quiet for me too, had a little flurry in February, and not much since. I’m sure the shops being open has made a difference, but hopefully customers will come back, when they have had their fill of the high street.

My shop has always been quiet. But not one order since February.
I am sure we will bite eventually but the current climate has been very scary. I am sure when everyone is back to work they may find an interest in shopping again and not for just the essentials.

Yes very quiet for me too, been selling on Folksy since 2012 and feel like my shop has disappeared too, I have just (finally!) upgraded to a plus account in the hope that this might make things better,
I point all my social media towards Folksy and never to my Etsy shop which is ticking over really well, without any promotion or even a mention. I sometimes wish a wider range of shops would get their items featured in the gift guides and promoted by Folksy on social media as feel I see a lot of the ‘same’ sellers who have a distinct style featured. I wait in hope every year for one of my cards to be featured in the Mother’s Day Gift Guide for example…perhaps next year! :grinning:

I’m glad (not glad) it’s not just me. Let’s hope it picks up for all of us soon. Although I’m in the middle of a Masters degree so should really be focusing on that. X

My shop has been a bit like Helen’s - great in the first three months - more sales than in a whole year (pre-covid), but since the bricks and mortar shops reopened it has just been dire.

Yep, me too. Been really quiet since the “proper” shops opened. Got my first craft fair of this year tomorrow so I am hoping that will be well attended.

My shop went quiet once we hit March as well, I have sold a couple of bears locally but not much on Folksy recently…hopefully our customers will return.
Like many others it seems it’s since the highstreet reopened.

Very quiet. I am concentrating on making and getting draft listings done so that once I venture out into the big wide world again, I can free-wheel it all the way to Christmas!

From what I’ve seen people say about Folksy, other online shops and physical shops… I think people are saving their money to spend on socialising instead.

It makes sense, if you know you’ll mainly be stuck at home for a while then you’re more willing to treat yourself with a bit of online shopping, because you can’t go in real shops and there aren’t many other experiences to spend your money on. A few treats helps cheer up what can be a difficult time for people.
Once people know restrictions are easing though their priorities change. As they haven’t seen friends and family for a long time, they then want to make sure they have money to spend on doing things with them. I don’t think it’s so much the high street shops that people are switching to as the pubs and restaurants, and maybe saving in anticipation for the gigs and shows starting up again, or the hopes of a holiday.

Yes, I agree. My shop on the other side had a brilliant year, all things considered, until the lockdown ease, my Folksy shop is a bit newer but was starting to pick up until then.
Everyone is out there catching up with friends and family and probably using their online time booking holidays. It will all level out I’m sure.

My shop has never done particularly well on Folksy, this year, I’ve had 3 sales, the last being February! My Etsy shop has always sold more. I advertise them both but I’m getting really despondent with it
