They are beautiful Sue, but have you considered that a buyer may not wish to buy both together? Could you offer them separately? Obviously it would be less expensive to buy them separately, and it may encourage a buyer who doesn’t want both?
Maybe you could include measurements in metric as well as imperial?
Also, it’s only a small detail, you say that both paintings are ‘sighed and dated’? Presumably you mean ‘signed’!
The sewing projects sound fun Margaret, I do like the sound of the cottage. Glad you liked the cakes - they are fun, I haven’t listed them anywhere yet maybe next week. Yes the GBBO is fun, I do like the banter of the judges, is all in good humour unlike some contest type shows. Shame you don’t have another TV you could be “in control” of as you say. For many years I lived in the same house with my parents but I always had my own space and TV etc didn’t take much to split the aerial etc.
Great Poppies Sue - I sell my art online not much at folksy at the moment, it’s a bit quiet here for me but I’ve had over 120 sales and I know others do well too so keep promoting and hopefully they will sell
I’m sure others will agree it’s not easy selling art online - we all work very hard on marketing etc.
For some time now, I have been very aware that I undercharge for my paintings. I have seen most artists asking for, and getting, double (and more) the amount that I am asking for. I have seen people getting more for prints of similar paintings than I get for my original artwork. I have seen people selling paintings for £65 for a size that I only list at £15.
I have spent hundreds of pounds on books and dvd’s to learn how to improve on my work and now I feel that I am worthy of more than I am getting.
Therefore, as from September 1st, I shall be increasing my prices.
So if anyone of you are considering buying any of my paintings (a very good investment) you have a few weeks left at my current prices.
Really sorry just a flying visit I’ve not got time to go through and comment properly as I have another busy day ahead and need to leave early, but I’ll catch up properly tomorrow evening after work when I can sit with a nice glass of wine and read though properly. Just wanted to wave hi to everyone :wave :).
Also for those that remember I noticed the other day Folksy Friday is back - for those that don’t know or remember Folksy Friday is Blog posts usually on a theme with links to Folksy Items and anyone can join in I’m going to join in again probably from next week I used to really enjoy those, it will be interesting to go back in time and see if it works refreshed.
I’m back from an impromptu caravan trip - my dad has a touring van so i decided to borrow it and take our 17 year old Spanish visitor and my 18 year old daughter away for a few days. We had a very intensive 5 hour lesson on how to set it up and tow it followed by a wonderful time in the Peak District.
Brenda was it you or the fox eating cheese sandwiches??? I agree it’s definitely time you increased your prices - I’m sure you’ll still sell well. I hope hubby isn’t in too much discomfort. Remember to look after yourself too!
Sue I think your prices are fine. It is difficult to sell art on line. Maybe add a close up photo showing the texture, and one with an example of how they would love framed? Also I agree with Margaret, put them in separate listings with a link to each other so that the buyer can decide whether they want one or two.
I’m not a fan of baking programs or competitions either, I find them too tense.
You can definitely get mounts for aceos on ebay, some of my clients have done that with their purchases from me.
Hazel I LOVE your poppy aceo, it looks like one of those with a double set of petals. I really like the way it fills the space.
Good for you Brenda, as mentioned on FB, your paintings are extremely good value indeed and you should have no trouble at all selling at a higher price.
Max, you’re always super busy, do you never slow down??
Glad to have you back Stephie, glad you enjoyed your break and hope it didn’t rain too much for you!
welcome back Stephie…(I don’t like cheese…so the badgers and foxes got them all) Hubby buys bread and cheese or ham especially for the animals. Tomorrow we are dog sitting Charlie the neighbour’s border collie !
waving to everyone…
Good morning, waving hi to everyone. lol Margaret you are right I am always doing something :). Quieter day today with no meetings so I can catch up on paperwork and a totally free weekend whoo!
morning all…hope everyone is well and busy
I haven’t been sharing pics much because I don’t want anyone to feel left out if no comments are given …
however, yesterday I did something very different and really don’t know if I love it or hate it…so for once, I would value opinions…I have just listed it in my shop.
.
It’s a beautifully painted face and her hair is gorgeous. If I have any reservations about it I’d say that she’s not as beautiful a woman as you normally paint, she’s older (not that older women can’t be beautiful!!) and has a bit of a grumpy face? Maybe she’d look better with a smile? I’m sure it’ll still sell though
Inspired by my photographs and sketches, simplified to an abstract form. Layers of paint added, mixed with medium and diluted with water, to create a deep ethereal image. Finished with a coat of medium to give a satin appearance.
Could you have one photo of the whole painting though? The photos you have all look like close ups, so it’s hard to be sure of what the whole looks like?
We still have the road works going on - will be finishing next Wednesday hopefully!
I’m still catching up with myself, but am getting somewhere with my ‘to do’ list now - hopefully I will be organised before the Christmas rush starts…
Brenda - I love that picture - I like that she’s a mature looking woman. In fact, she reminds me of a theatrical friend. I think it’s the wonderful wacky hair with the unmade up face that makes it seem not quite finished to me - if it was my friend she would have on some glitzy eyeshadow to match the hair lol! I don;t think she looks grumpy - she has a wee smile
