Had a lovely walk thanks Margaret, sheep bleating, bluebells growing in the woods - just wish I had time to stop and paint! Ah well, mustn’t be greedy, I know I have a lot more time to paint than many others.

Hello everyone - I’ve just finished six new designs (zoo animal themes) and here’s the first - after a marathon photo session which I had to do over the course of two days… I’m decided to do some appliqué bumble bees for this design - it must be the smallest appliqué I have ever done!!

I must admit I find commissions difficult. Probably because of lack of experience if I’m honest. I’ve only done four to date, and the first two were nerve wrenching because I was so scared they wouldn’t turn out well. The recipients both loved them but I kept thinking I could have made them better, and even when they were finished kept thinking of different ways I could have put them together. But I suppose that’s the same for everyone - you always think you can do better!
The second two were for two friends and because I knew them both well, I was able to create two designs which they loved. I think that’s my main tip for commissions, have a really good conversation with them, especially more so for someone you don’t know, and get as much detail about what they want. Sometimes people don’t know what they want but will give you words to inspire e.g. woodland feel, beach and quirky, etc etc.
And keep up the communication - I show the customer the fabrics I intend to use before I start to sew, plus a sketch.

Hello! Haven’t been around much in this guise lately, been busy being ffflowers 
Commissions make me very nervous too… I’m working on some little glass fences for a commission at the moment. Getting round the ‘not sure which to do’ feeling by making a few and letting the client choose. So I dare say some will be turning up in my shop soon…
But today I’ve got around to listing the last of my Seashore pieces

I haven’t been on folksy much this week busy with this new web development, but I have been creative, digitally drawing … a stairlift as a bespoke graphic was a challenge!!
So no painting for me this week … but I see you have all been busy painting I see, love the butterflies Stephie, congrats on the sales, love the seashore pieces Helen and the tiny sunflowers are lovely Max
I have my Anemones coming to an end today on their listing so have decided to put them in the one day sale, haven’t been doing the sale much of late …
