Weekly Art Chat w/c 21st July ..... come on in and see whats going on

Hehe that’s good Brenda  I need to get my ballet brushes on - I’m doing a stall at the local dance school’s summer fete in a couple of weeks time. Whatever I paint has to be quick and simple, the girls will only have a couple of quid to spend. The parents on the other hand…

Waving Hazel, pretty riverside.

I forgot to welcome @Rozcraftz Roz to the thread, how rude of me! Big welcome Roz, your poppies are lovely.

Margaret I have a small selection of inktense blocks and ffind them good for train journeys. They don’t flick quite as well as the artbars (the white is not as opaque) and for that reason I much prefer artbars.

I’m not sorry that I bought the brusho but they’re not quite as exciting as I first thought they would be, and they are definitely tricky to use in Joanne Boon Thomas’s way on a miniature scale. Except for the funky separation of colours, you can probably get very similar results using grated inktense onto damp paper.

We found this interesting frame in a charity shop!
It was just the right size for my aceos, so selected 3 of my faves.
By the way the top two have been painted using ’ Brusho ’ and a little acrylic here and there!
We are really pleased with the frame.
I love using ’ brusho ’ paint it flows making some interesting shapes!
I use it as any other paint, don’t do much sprinkling!
Have nice day all… going off to ballet now, nice one Brenda!

Waving Stephie and thank you

The frame is great Jeanie and the paintings beautiful the colours are just lovely

Hot here again today, work and errands to run this morning but wish I was at the beach !

Thank you Hazel!

wow Jeanie they look great displayed like that!

any ideas I had about buying more art supplies have been scuppered. I found I had a flat tyre on the way to work and eventually arrived £175 poorer :frowning: Actually I’ve been extremely lucky. I stopped for petrol and checked the tyres as the car didn’t feel right. There was a big nail in my front passenger tyre. Fortunately I was only a short distance from Harvey’s tyres so I popped in there and got it fixed. Two new front tyres and the tracking fixed took any money I might have hoped to spend on goodies for a few weeks but it could have been so much worse if I hadn’t noticed and had gone on the main road!

Not good when these unexpected expenses crop up is it Margaret but good to get it sorted quickly - glad you are OK too

Good job you got it sorted straight away! what a pain!

Well This is what I came up with when I sprinkled ’ Brusho '…
Fantasy pansies is what we called it! I just added a few petals to it.
Having fun again!! Jeanie x Makes a change from serious painting!
BTW it is aceo size

That’s pretty Jeanie, I like brusho when it’s sprinkled, although it doesn’t half make a mess lol.

What a pain Margaret, I’m glad you’ve got it sorted without injury or accident. Sounds like you coped really well with the emergency!

Here are my ballerina sketches. I’ve transfered each one onto watercolour ACEO sized paper 3 times, and will add colour in 3 different ways - brusho, watercolour and possibly inktense (not decided about the last one yet).

Your drawings are wonderful Stephie you really have the eye for people in action  look forward to seeing some colour in the ACEO versions.

Can I ask you a question please Stephie about the elegant pen - re my post on FB this morning - my lavender sketch is on canvas board, is it going to be OK as it is or do I need to seal it in any way - I did one of Poppies the other day and my Dad loved it so I gave it to him but I did wonder if this pen is fast?

Thanks Hazel

Hazel If it’s going on the wall I’d frame it behind uv glass and a mount. You need to treat it like a watercolour - as you know it’s a very fluid ink and moves so easily with the tiniest bit of water, hence the need for protection against water and condensation. I’d tape up the back of the frame to protect from dust, and hang out of direct sunlight or it will fade.

Thanks Stephie that really helpful. I will think of it like a watercolour

Morning everyone, just popped by to say hi, not been on here much I’ve a lot going on but I do still check in to see everyones lovely work. Especially love that frame Jeanie, I found a lovely brass frame to fit ACEO’s and am going to try and ‘stage’’ some paintings see how they go, I’m planning a learning session whilst im off next week on how to use my camera properly eek!

ouch Margaret, I hate when that kind of thing happens, good that you got it sorted before going on a main road though

back later

Yes! Max that frame was a lucky find…good luck with your photo learning! x Jeanie

I’ve managed to get some painting done today, the first time this week and I’m still trying to catch up on the Folksy Forum!
The sky is a bit cloudier here now, but it’s still roasting!
Here’s my new painting…
