Weekly Art Chat W/C 26th May

Stephie, your hair sounds fab!!

Gaynor, what’s this about free business cards? I could do with some of them!!

Waves to everyone else

The soft play area was packed!! but did lots of sketching, actually I was bursting ideas which is quite amazing considering the amount of children running around and the noise!!

Hope you all have a great evening, I’m popping to my Nan’s to give her a lesson in using her new laptop, she did have a tablet but sat on it and broke the screen, so she’s treated herself to a laptop.

Here’s the link Maria http://uk.moo.com/partner/folksy/?utm_source=folksy&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=trial

They have the Folksy logo on them if you go for the free option but I think that’s a good thing.

I’ve had the Folksy/Moo cards done. I wrote a blogpost about it as they told me a way to get the Folksy logo on the same side as the text rather than across the image.

Car looks really good. I agree that the line in the bonnet is a bit straight/

I have bought some Kool Aid Pink lemonade crystals as I have read that you can dye silk scarves with it AND you can dye your hair. (39p a sachet!)

Gaynor the car looks absolutely fab, and as long as the customer is happy that’s all that really matters!

I can’t remember how many years it is since I went to a hairdresser, but it was a long time ago!lol I think it’s fairly unusual to have such long hair as mine at my age, and I’m proud of it!

Enjoy your painting fix Stephie

just arrived back home. Right now I don’t ever want to see another shop or shopping centre…worn out…lol
I managed to find 4 art books to buy and we went to two art galleries.
The one in Eastbourne was good and was free. However the one in Hastings was £8 each for entry and no concessions for pensioners…(they must think we are rolling in it). I would not normally have paid that much but as we were on holiday we paid… Well, I have never seen so much rubbish in my life…I like abstracts and original art but some of the paintings were no better than a 3 year old could do…even accounting for artistic taste, I fail to see how anyone could want this sort of painting in their home and how on earth they warranted being in an exhibition is beyond my belief…my artist friends on here would knock spots off these “so called” artists. One of them was abstract art that really took me by shock as it was pornographic abstract art…vulgar to be honest and I am no prude. If people think it is nice to see inside a female then they need therapy as far as I am concerned. I am just glad that any youngster probably wouldn’t have registered what the paintings were of. Onions in the shape of men’s parts and the classic pears and bananas…mmmmm…I was not impressed. The only good thing about it is that it made me appreciate that I might just have some sort of talent and I could CERTAINLY produce better work than this. It just amazes me how these works have been bought as collections for private buyers and also warrant being hung in a gallery for all to see…Most of it belonged on the top shelf in a sleazy newsagents…and this was a recognized art gallery…
I shall sleep it off and start tomorrow with more enthusiasm.

Great to have you back Brenda!

That exhibition sounds absolutely dreadful! It’s the kind of thing that would put me off art. I’m so lucky to have found all of you who paint such beautiful and innocent artworks that have inspired me to collect so many.

I’m amazed you managed to find any art books you don’t already own!lol

Ha ha Margaret…You are right, not many books that I don’t already have but I found a second hand book shop and bought some old books, one was called colour mixing and gives you the %'s for mixing to make the colour you are looking for. …good for trying to find the right bluebell colour for example. Another by Hazel Soan was a tiny book of 10 minute watercolours…

Fab way to display your cards Hazel, they look really good.

Here the elephant hawk moth I painted last night. It’s from a photo taken by @JOYSofGLASS, Joy very kindly gave me permission to use it.

Love the moth Stephie!

Great cards Hazel! I’m off into the garden too today, couple of beds are ready to plant and some strawberry plants to go in. Hope it stays dry, it’s clouded over at the moment.

Morning all…fab cards Hazel and lovely Moth Stephie
Maria…love your style of painting…in the exhibition last week, that painting would have been valued at thousands!!
I won’t start listing again until Monday as I have had no sales this month, so no point in adding to this month’s bill today. I think (apart from when I joined Folksy over 4 years ago) that is the FIRST month that I have had no sales ! Thank goodness for the bay and the dark side…(mind you I was missing last week and my shops were shut, so that will account for one of the weeks.)

Glad to be home to be honest…back aching from all the shopping…at least I have the new art books for inspiration.
Waving Fatema, it is so nice to have you back with us.
waving Margaret, hope you have a great day out.

Afternoon all, just popped in to say hi to everyone, welcome back Brenda. If I’d known you were in Hastings you could have popped in to see stan rosenthal,an artist I admire his work is colourful and cheerful I have two of his and he’s a lovely chap fun a little eccentric, he gave me a signed book of his work when we met him, found his gallery purely by chance in Hastings, I’ve got one of his Hastings works hanging on my dining room wall, with the cute but tall net sheds and the mountain train in the background.

That’s great Maria - let’s hope our plants do well, my Gazania are “daybreak mix” so should be very colourful … My non art website is called “break of day” so very apt I thought lol

I’m all done planting for today now, backs of my legs ache from kneeling down so long and I’m now waiting on hubby digging over another patch for me to plant more in the week

My pencil case from Gerda Bags has just arrived and is beautiful - been years since I’ve had a pencil case  this one is for me to take my new sketching pens out and about with me over the summer mainly.
