How do you get your shop name up? Mine’s not there either.
Morning everyone. Just popping by to say hello. Hoping to finish the car commission this weekend so may have something to show you soon.
Happy Friday!
Gaynor
Tessa, you need to log out completely and log in again, then it will show.
Morning all, hope you are all having a good day.
Hazel, my purchases from you have arrived and as always they are gorgeous!
Gaynor, I look forward to seeing the completed commission.
Good morning everyone!!
Shame about the commission
I’ve added a couple this morning
Taking my 2 youngest to soft play area today, perfect opportunity to sketch while they play safely.
Have a good day all
That’s great Margaret do glad you like them
that sunset is rather lovely if I do say do myself lol
Hello everyone … On my phone so can’t comment at the moment just back from the hairdressers and need to get changed - catch up later ![]()
Love that zentangle Maria, it’s very colourful!
I’ve still not managed to produce anything new this week, half term seems to have taken over. Hopefully some sort of normality will be resumed next week.
Thanks Margaret, it’s worked.
The talk button keeps disappearing then reappearing in my shop
Hello, lovely artworks, am glad there is no rain today but there is a lot of fluff flying around like dandelion seed heads and things like that from the trees ,I can see them dancing around the garden as I sit looking out into the garden, great for the plant life but not hay fever!
@Coloursandtextures I think it must be a fault, intermittent thing that has happened to me but came back seems ok now
Maria, love the zentangle and the tulips are so pretty!
This weekend I’m attempting a clematis flower and a viola, Anna Mason style. I’ll paint them at the same time to allow for them to dry while I’m working on the other. That’s the plan anyway.
Tomorrow I’m having a day out with my brother as his wife is still recuperating from her gall bladder operation and isn’t yet well enough to go out with him. It’ll be like old times!
Finally got a moment to check in …
Having a busy day which is sort of a day off … Lots of shopping done online and off and had my hair done …
Love the flower pot Maria, very pretty
Have a lovely day out tomorrow Margaret and look forward to seeing your flower paintings
Waving Tessa, Maria, Gaynor
Sorry to hear your commission didn’t come off Stephie, maybe you will paint a Triptych anyway? could be fun
Wish I could get my hair done online lol
Now that could be interesting Tessa lol
Hazel the cost is prohibitive - I guestimate materials alone at around £60 as it was to be a textured acrylic which uses a LOT of expensive paint, plus the cost of the box canvases and varnish.
I got my hair done yesterday - took 2.5 hours but it has lots of fresh pink flashes in it again and I won’t need to get it done at the salon for another 6 months. My daughter touches up the pink at home every few weeks - much cheaper and only takes half an hour.
I am determined to go and paint something, I need a fix. Back shortly
Hi everyone, not popped in for ages so thought it was about time! Noticed some of you on the front page, so congratulations.
Stephie I’m sure you’re quote was very reasonable, some people just don’t appreciate the time it takes to do a painting as well as material costs. You never know they may come back at a later date.
I was going to finish some dragonfly bowls today but I’ve got a cold, seems crazy for May! One is on its way to Australia, my first sale over there.
Afternoon all, just popped by to say hi, thanks for letting me know the painting arrived safely Tessa :). No time again today on my way home change and straight out to a charity event rod Stuart and tina turner tribute act and auction etc. hope it’s not the same performer lol!
I’m looking forward to a nice relaxed weekend down in west wales I have a few days off work too, and breathe… I’m dying to get my hair done just haven’t had time I love a hairdressers visit lovely pamper
Hello all. What a shame about the commission Stephie. I don’t think people realise how much time it takes to create a piece of art, let alone the cost of the materials. I’m trying to keep costs low on the car commissions by reserving the right to use the image for limited editions and cards. But I’ll still need to sell a whole load to make minimum wage!
I finished the car commission today so here she is. The client wanted to change the shadow on the bonnet but after the piece was finished. I think this has made the shadow a bit too dark. I’m thinking of strengthening the colour on the bottom of the door, etc to balance it? Or should I leave well alone? The client is happy anyway although I have said I might want to make a few minor changes having looked at it for a couple of days.
Gaynor x
That is really lovely Gaynor, you’re very good at flat washes. I’m more of a cauliflower girl when it comes to watercolours
I think the shadow underneath is fine. I know that values aren’t exactly as the photo, but they do look right. One thing that jumps out at me is the darker shadow on the bonnet is perhaps a little straight? The cloud reflections are truly wonderful and you’ve really made the car and windcreen shine. The client is no doubt delighted!
I have a moth and a butterfly at the beach on the go atm and am feeling much happier.
Thanks Stephie, that’s really helpful. I’ve still got a lot to learn. You’re right about the shadow on the bonnet. I’d painted it exactly as it appeared (although without the scaffolding!) - it’s the reflection of a building. But that’s the bit the client wanted to change - it was a bit zig zaggy for them.
Glad you’ve found the time to do some painting and nourish the soul.
I’ve just ordered the free business cards you can get as a Folksy shop owner. Anyone else taken advantage?
