Weekly natterings 21st Sept

Right putting the laptop down now and am picking up knitting needles, boy its amazing how much time you can waste playing around on it, and not getting anything tangible done!

Oh no! just did a last check on all my open tabs and just read it is Folksy Hour over on twitter, arghhhhhh
So I have made a decision, to watch Folksy Hour unfold and knit, after all I am all woman, and multi tasking is second nature!!!
I’ll let you know how I got on!

Good news Dawn @hobbitgirlie1880, at least you have a time scale now! And before Christmas too! Yes Suzzie @thistledownandHOPE I realise our cats are big boys (they’re only 3) but they are fed on demand 24/7. They aren’t fat at all (even according to the vet) but they are big. (And before you get the idea that I’m a big softy getting up to feed them in the middle of the night, that’s my OH that does that.) Otherwise they make sure we get no sleep, the little darlings.

Rhiannon Rose @RhiannonRoseJewellery just as I said to our vet, ‘not fat, just heavy furred’ !! Luv’em x

Apparently we just had another earthquake - well more of a slight tremor really. My daughter felt it but I just heard a slight bang and put it down to my imagination (or maybe the number of lagers I just drank at the pub!)

Wow, wonder if it will make the news Roz @OrchardFelts. I remember when we had one, in the middle of the night, I sort of woke thinking a dog was giving a good old scratch behind his ear on the bed, but when I came to a bit more I realised we didn’t / never had had a dog!! The house shook that much I actually went downstairs to see if any of the glasses had smashed in the dresser, no. I didn’t say anything about it, as I wasn’t sure if I had dreamt it, I used to sleep walk, so I wasn’t sure. It wasn’t until I got to the school gates where everyone was talking about it, that my suspicions were confirmed, an earthquake. Such an unusual thing to experience.
Last night I had no earth shattering knitting triumphs to mention, will work harder tonight, so today I am going to make some chutney. Have a variety of ingredients, but no confirm recipe, so we will see, will keep you posted.
Hope everyone else has a productive day,
Suzzie x

Roz @OrchardFelts your earthquake is mentioned on twitter, asking people to tweet in if they felt it…

Roz @OrchardFelts tweet @tomhorn8, to fill in the survey from the National Geographical society

Sounds like you had a fun night roz @OrchardFelts

Evening all - hope you all had a good day. I got a fair bit of crafting done and managed to get to the supermarket this afternoon so there was food to be had this evening. My naughty dog ran off on his walk today - not far but into a field that had been left fallow this year and consequently had all sorts growing in it. He inevitably came back full of seeds and I have just spent the last 2 hours trying to pick them out of his fur. I think I"ve broken the back of it but there are still hundreds to get out. Think he’s had enough for the moment.

Could happily head off to bed now but think I better try and stay up a little while longer or I will be awake at 3am

Well today I have been very productive - made a scarf and a felted planter/vase and I mowed the lawn (twice because it had grown so long) and am even making a homemade dinner, meatball pasta bake  Feeling very virtuous!

Domestic goddess or what!! Roz @OrchardFelts
I am sitting with a cuppa tea, contemplating starting to get the chutney I prepped yesterday, on to the heat, also contemplating making supper, but would prefer to finish new hottie, because I so love the colour, and everything about it, but as for cutting the lawn, I firmly believe that is the guinea pigs job!!
But I have to tell someone so it may as well be you if you will listen, my cosie cables pinterest board has just been added to the wish/gift list, AND my lavender coat hanger is on the front page when you open up Folksy, before you log in, proving to me at least, all my promotion efforts are paying dividends,
but hence the reticence to start anything just in case the orders start rolling in thick and fast and I have only got one of each item in both those boards actually knitted, so once they are gone they are gone until I sit down and jolly well get on and knit some more!! Maybe I am panicking rather prematurely, but the detail is all in the preparation! and I am not prepared.
Just read this back to myself, think I am rather chuffed actually
yipeeee heeheehee, hurrah yipppppeeeeee !

You deserve to be chuffed - just this second got an email re: cosy cable knits from folksy  Will go and have a look.

I would have needed a very large guinea pig to get through my lawn, in fact it could do with a shorter cut but am hoping that will be it for this year. I’m sure when my ex left he said he would come back to cut the lawn for me but he hasn’t done it once!

The pasta bake was lovely - we have to eat early here as my daughter always comes in from school starving. It might help if she would eat some lunch!

We have a ‘heavy haired’ Guinea pig,

Well it Friday already,
the chutney I made yesterday is delicious, well in my humble opinion, I think so. Have made a jar to go in our village show for next year, then we will see if anyone outside my family thinks so, havent been placed for several years now, so next year could be my come back year!
BUT the hottie I finished last night isnt so delicious, SO as per usual when I am making something new up, I am going to unpick it, and start again!! Love the colour, its just the new stitch is tooooo, well its not gentle enough, its too robust. I spent the first part of this morning pouring over stitch books and I think I have found something that might work better, so in true a perfectionist manner I am starting over, slightly disappointed but if it aint right it aint right. I may be rather busy for the next hour or 7!!
Just like to add, my lawn mower was up with the sunshine this morning, she has nearly finished that section, will move her at the weekend, in rather a military fashion, square by square, so by spring the whole lawn will have had a nibble, and fertilizer

Am spending the day getting everything ready for the craft fair I am doing tomorrow as well as all my admin/housework that has so far been neglected this week. Did sneak in another make last night - I now have 2 planters/vases to take with me tomorrow and I bought some pretty heather to “dress” them

Right - must get on!

Just popped my head up, because I have to say, they, the planters look amazing. They wont be on your stall for long, Good luck for tomorrow,

Hooray - success I have finally tackled and conquered the ironing mountain, won’t be ling before it grows again though. Not sure anyone would believe there are only 2 of us living here and 90% of the time I wear a uniform that doesn’t really need ironing!

Just got to get my work things sorted for next week and put the bins out and my jobs are done.

Thanks for the planter love Suzzie @thistledownandHOPE. I hope they sell but you can just never tell what the customers will be looking for. Wondering if its too early to put my Christmas stuff out on my stall. :christmas_tree: :christmas_tree:

Roz @OrchardFelts I would take it, assess what everyone else is doing, and regardless I would have one corner with a few choice bits, its then acknowledging with a gentle nod that Christmas is around the corner and a few people may be thinking about sending goodies abroad, but not too in your face that it causes offence to those Baahumbug types that think Christmas should be kept for Christmas eve only!
Good luck. I am stopping for a cuppa tea and am chuffed with my new more delicate raspberry hottie stitch, now it remains to convince hubby to help unravel first attempt.

Finally, the week is over! 2 training days, 2 full classes of books marked, seating plans completed, reports written and work surveys completed. Now all I need to do is list my first items on H@A (got sent an email telling me to get a move on) and plan for next week and I’ll be fine! Making new things? Not a chance!
