I rarely have music on because I’m writing if I’m not crafting and music scrambles the bit of my brain needed for writing. I tend to have three to six shows at any one time that will go on in the background with the volume quite low and be run through from beginning to end a few times on repeat before my brain allows my to switch to another one (an apparently common trait in neurodivergent people).
The current selection is Vox Machina, Daria, Red Dwarf, Big Bang Theory, Porridge, and The Young Ones.
I’m very dull I’m afraid, I work mostly in silence unless the window is open and I can here the birds chirping, or my old cat ‘chatting’ to me.
I do love music (I’ve very eclectic taste) but I find I’m really not listening when I’m painting or drawing, I just seem to get lost in what I’m doing to be honest.
Went to one of their concerts in Colmar, France, back in 2008 I think, and while I was still living in Greece, went to see Tarja Turunen. Both brilliant, I am not up to date with them though.
I always have the radio on, for the music but also to mask out any little irritating noises, the dripping tap sort of noises.
Absolute, Smooth, Radio 2, sometimes a pod cast but stguggle to find them.
As I get older, I am more comfortable with silence. If I listen to anything it’s audio books and podcasts. My favourites are Jane and Fi and The Rest is Entertainment plus some sewing ones.
Yesterday played a bit of Led Zep, just felt in the mood. Years and years ago at the Surrey rag week and they turned up unannounced and played about 6 songs, fantastic.
The other group, have also seen live, are The Moody Blues brilliant.
Fleetwood Mac, Led Zep and quite a few others used to decamp to Headley Grange to write, play and chill.
What an amazing surprise! Shame there are no radio stations with this sort of music though, had a hard disk with hundreds of songs back in Greece, it was all left there, so it’s down to google to entertain me now
Or one of a few stations on the ‘I Heart Radio’ app where I stream in a couple different USA radio stations … mostly playing classic rock (mind you - this is pretty much any music prior to 2000 – but I do miss when it was just music from the 60s/70s – weird to hear Metallica and GnR on those stations )
I love listening to audio books on the library app “Libby” and am currently working my way through Faith Martin’s novels. Libby a great app and it’s free - like your local library. I used to subscribe to Audio, but thought it was quite expensive as you bought the book, but with Libby you just borrow it and return it once you’ve listened to it. They do normal reading books as well as audio so well worth checking it out if you love reading!
Hi there, I usually just have the TV on in the background, or catching up with podcasts. I love music as much as the next person but find it distracting while crafting.
Five finger death punch and Lord of the lost recently, I always have it loud, metal works best for me and if I’m singing I’m not distracted by too many things in my head, I work better with it than without. Late at night I have the TV on in the background instead but rarely actually watch it.
Because I’ve been making some seasonal makes, I’ve been listening to my spotify xmas list a lot, my fav on there at the minute is ‘I want a hippopotamus for Christmas’ by Gayle Peevey, when my btm gets numb from sitting at my desk, I get up and march around to it, great for getting the circulation going. Thank goodness nobody can see me, except the cat !! lol
she a cat who thinks she’s a Mina, so pretty sure it would be … one just can’t get decent help these days!! Lol … or … oh no, I’m surrounded by idiots x
I am SOOO old, I haven’t heard of 99% of those mentioned…and as for earworm…aaaargh…I have had “Away in a Manger” going around for over 4 years now…( No idea why) except that if it changes then there is often a message for me in the words of the song that it has changed to…I sometimes have to google the lyrics to find the message.
I love songs from the musicals especially ones that I have been in…and you can hear me singing along…x
