It has to be cricket commentary for me. They chat away in the background and most of the time i don’t know what the score is or sometimes even who’s playing but it’s very soothing.
oh nice question!
I’m a little bit on the darker side, my favourite group is “Diary Of Dreams”, they always play on google when I’m on my own in the mornings. Nightwish, Blutengel, End Of Green and Elusive are also visiting the house quite often
I definitely can’t listen to music - I’m a sucker for an earworm, no matter whether it’s pop or classical so music is a real no-no… I spent most of last night with the Chemical Brothers going round in my head thanks to the Ocado ad on telly at the moment!
I have to listen to talk, so mainly Radio 4 but also a lot of podcasts (currently catching up with episodes of ‘Uncanny’ which I’ve missed - great for sending a spooky shiver down the spine when you’re working!)
Having said that, if I’m feeling stressed out I do like to stick on Vaughan Williams ‘Lark Ascending’ - it’s like opening a window in my head and taking a deep relaxing breath!
It is podcasts for me. I like true crime and intrigue. I have just finished the podcasts about the Australian woman who cooked beef wellington for family members and three of them were poisoned with death cap mushrooms. Interesting case.
For music when I am working I have such an eclectic taste it could be anything apart from modern pop music. More likely to be Ska, Reggea, or something more relaxed.
I am quite old school. I like the physical act of choosing a CD or sometimes vinyl (still have my collection from the 70s plus). Very much depends on what I’m in the mood for: I have my ‘girls’ Melanie, Dido, Paloma, Annie Lennox etc. and my ‘boys’ Bob dylan, Paul Rogers, Iggy Pop, John Martin etc. If I’m feeling a bit more raucous it has to be The Stones or Led Zeppelin.
I subscribe to Audible and listen to audio books mostly.
Sometimes I will switch and listen to music for a few days Tool, Pearl Jam type thing, depending on mood.
My house is never free of music, I always listen to rock, metal, goth or Goth metal. I either have CD or google home playing, which we have in every room except the bathrooms. currently listening to Lord of the Lost, blood and glitter album. Music is a big part of my life, we regularly attend concerts, some smaller groups we follow around, we have seen Sanctum Sanctorium 4 times over the past year and due to see them again in August at York. They are a brilliant cover band if you like the Cult, sisters of mercy, the Cure, Bauhaus. And Siouxsie and the Banshees. Life would be very flat without music, also very boring as I wouldn’t go out
as we regularly have nights away for concerts
I love to have music playing in the house my craft room/ OH home office space has a vinyl player set up and to me it’s the best sound.
It also has guitars and amp and used to house OH drum kit!
I am recently listening to Fleetwood Mac but also love Frank Turner, Richard Hawley and Wet Leg.
I usually have rock and metal music blasting out while I’m working. My favs are Korn, Slipknot, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam. I do like a bit of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Bob Dylan to soften things up a little from time to time.
I don’t do silence, there’s got to be noise, preferablyto singalong to. I was definitely a CD person (still got shelves of them) but then I discovered BOOM radio and I haven’t used anything else since. It’s not like other “oldies” channels, they play stuff that I haven’t heard in decades because they weren’t ever on the standard playlists that all the other stations play and loads of album tracks too. I was a teenager in the 70’s and I get my fix of Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, Suzi Quatro, Stranglers, Elvis Costello, Jethro Tull - you get tthe gist???
Vinyl is perfect, nothing like it. Okay mp3 and cd’s may be perfect but that is the problem. Nothing like the crackle when the needle goes down. Lee has over 3000 singles, ep’s 200 and Lp’s 300.
Everyone has been procleaned and tested. He has very few now to get but that makes it hard as has to be a first pressing.
Anyone heard of the Bread & Beer Band, he got the demo from Terry Scott when he worked on the Radio, he gave it to Lee’s Dad along with some others when he caught the train at Milford station .
I agree you can’t beat vinyl, we have a huge stash of them but currently in the loft as no turntable. I buy a lot of cd’s and people ask why when we can download but I like that physical piece of music I can hold in my hand even if it is just a cd.
